

𝐂𝐒 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐊𝐈𝐏𝐑𝐄, 𝐚 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐏𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟔𝟎 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula inaugurated the Board of Directors at the Kenya Institute of Primate Research (KIPRE) on January 23, 2024. Formerly known as IPR, KIPRE has been a biomedical research pioneer since 1958, focusing on drug and vaccine development aligned with the government's Universal Health Coverage agenda. With a diverse range of departments, KIPRE transitions from IPR, emphasizing domestic healthcare capacity. CS Wafula commended the institution's potential in human capacity, research milestones, and its role in preventing non-communicable diseases. She highlighted upcoming benefits from the Social Health Authority, encouraging lifestyle adjustments for better health outcomes. The CS approved HR instruments, urging prompt personnel placement to fulfill the institution's mandate. During the visit, Nakhumicha toured facilities, acknowledging KIPRE's advancements in reproductive health products and its role in addressing snakebites. The staff is committed to contributing to the Universal Health Coverage agenda.
