@Everylastgoat We both agree that it didn't affect the outcome. But its not unreasonable that the stewards determined that it DID affect the outcome. I dont agree with 'em, but I dont think the crazy reactions to the DQ are warranted. We cant truly KNOW what the outcome would've been w/o a bump

@SixthPeakArmory @BobLonsberry The helicopter told ATC not once but TWICE that they had the CRJ in sight. They requested visual separation both times. ATC granted visual separation both times since the helicopter acknowledged that they had the plane in sight. Obviously, they had the wrong plane in sight.

@BobLonsberry Fellow pilot here - yes it can be that simple and it is. Both the helicopter pilot and ATC controller screwed up big time. One: ATC not providing the proper separation of aircraft Two: the helicopter pilot not providing to ATC they don’t have the jetliner in sight.

I'm kind of haunted by Trump implying that last night's air disaster over Reagan national was the fault of air traffic controllers and/or helicopter pilot error. Either or both may be true, but neither traumatized controllers nor grieving pilot relatives need to face those speculations today.
