Very few people have explored the natural scenery of China. It’s like discovering a new world👌

@TheEconomist Western men travel to poor countries to find vulnerable women and teenagers to marry, ensuring they have a submissive, sexually available woman to manipulate, subjugate, and control. They don't want a wife, they want a servant. Traditional woman, woman without rights

I’m in a Chinese taxi (my mind is very Chinese so to me this is a normal taxi to me) and it’s crazy. He’s not on his phone to his Indian relatives speaking Hindu, no smell of curry, no foreign music, he speaks more English than the uber drivers in England Got a 7 mile ride from the airport for like $4

@EwanRewild @chinafutureclub Ist time in the UK, petrol prices went up by 10p and truck drivers blockaded the road in protest. I was in shock, but made me realise how powerful the Pound was. A 1p increase is probaly equivalent to a couple of dollars in other countries.

Australian cost of living prices are basically an inflation test of how much can we charge people? “Make the chocolate bars 5 bucks mate” “But sir, who will buy them?” Australians 😎🇦🇺

@o_lalonde @chinafutureclub Yh it certainly feels this way for lower income people, across much of Asia tbh. Like there's a whole side economy which caters to lower income people. In the west poorer people can kiss goodbye to eating out regularly and eating well for cheap. Need a metric which describes this

@EwanRewild @chinafutureclub It depends what basket of goods you use for PPP. It's counterintuitively probably true of the lower income population. Lower income people in China can afford unlimited 5g, a decent smartphone, a scooter / reliable public transit, eating out, healthcare, etc.

The average Chinese person has FAR more spending power than Americans. It’s the real national security issue that is never addressed: You are being fundamentally ripped off. I just bought $2 digital bathroom scales in China.

@chinafutureclub I'm in Yunnan, and prices are incredibly cheap compared to back home in the UK, and it seems the consumer market is just as wide as in the UK. But relative to wages? I'm keen to know if any measures can actually tell me whether it's cheap for locals or not

Old Tory Right - Scholastic Fundamentalist
Europeans apparently think America and Europe are just as urban as each other. They’re not. America just has a looser definition of urbanism because of how rural we are. If you go by self-identification (which is more accurate), like 30% of the American population is rural.

@Huck1112 @JessePeltan I CBA debating this. You argued dumb in all the other random points we've talked about and you've straight up started this with an incorrect fact around life expectancy which literally takes 1 second to Google to show is false. Bye. Boring debate

@EwanRewild @JessePeltan How? The EU has regulated every industry out. The EU hasn't had any economic growth in 12 years. Germany used to have the cheapest power in the world to fuel their industry. Now they have amongst the most expensive and industry has left. The average person in the poorest...

@Huck1112 @JessePeltan A long term shift to EVs is inevitable and sensible for Europe. Maybe not the US, but for Europe it is. Might take a few decades, and I don't think we should prematurely push it so we can make sure it's done right and not to damage domestic indst. They cause less damage anyway

@EwanRewild @JessePeltan You're ignoring the fact we don't have the infrastructure to be able to produce EVs on a mass scale, the severe damage caused by the production of EVs and the geopolitical implications

@Huck1112 @JessePeltan You're just ignoring the environmental damage oil extraction has caused. Oil is not a long term strategy. You can recycle batteries and their components, create more efficient systems, and extraction processes. Oil is just always polluting and always carries risk

@EwanRewild @JessePeltan We still have significant amount of oil. None of it is nearly has harmful as strip mining for all the materials needed for EVs. Tell me how we're going to mine 75 years worth of copper in the next 10 years to supply all the EVs? Tell me how that alone won't destroy theenvironment
