The Crisis Response Battalion held a formal Change of Command ceremony at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, marking the transfer of authority from LTC Jeffery "Scott" Murray to LTC Michael Meaney. With CRB Soldiers in formation, the ceremony honored outgoing leadership and reinforced the battalion's continued commitment to mission readiness. Florida State Guard Soldiers from the Aviation Response Squadron, Maritime Response Squadron, and Special Missions Unit supported the Pasco County Sheriff's Office during the Chasco Fiesta Street Parade in New Port Richey, providing aerial surveillance, waterway safety, and physical security for one of Pasco County's largest annual events. UAS pilots delivered real-time overhead imagery to law enforcement partners, augmented by Special Missions Soldiers on the ground. Boat crews secured key waterway areas with vessel patrols on the Pithlachascotee River, maintaining a safety zone throughout the parade route. Florida State Guard UAS and Crisis Response Battalion personnel supported law enforcement operations at the Clewiston Sugar Festival last week, providing real-time aerial surveillance and situational awareness to help ensure public safety across one of Hendry County's largest community events. Operating from the FSG's mobile command platform, the team delivered a live overhead feed to law enforcement partners on the ground, strengthening coordination and coverage throughout the festival. The Florida State Guard Chief of Staff and Director of Human Resources visited Gadsden County this week to speak with the Gadsden County Civic Education Program about the FSG mission, capabilities, and how the Guard serves communities across the state. Leadership connected with the County Superintendent, a Gadsden County Sheriff's Office Major, and other local officials, giving attendees a firsthand understanding of what the Florida State Guard does and how it supports Florida. Training covered navigation, RADAR operation, docking procedures, man overboard recovery, and low-light operations, with Madeira Beach Fire and Rescue providing instruction on marine electronics. Exercises like these ensure MRS crews are proficient and mission-ready to respond when Florida needs them on the water.
