@benjpalmer @hshgqi @PitchingNinja I think what @hshgqi is saying is that they think hitters will perform better against upper zone curveballs if they increase in frequency. I did not see anything from the article about pitchers/teams seeing the trend and increasing the amount of curveballs thrown in upper zone.

On the surface, this approach may feel like a high risk/reward approach because if you don’t locate your curve well at the top, you throw a hanger
But hitters had just a .256 wOBA and .141 ISO against curves thrown in the top third of the zone last year. It’s a solid strategy

@benjpalmer @PitchingNinja I’m not denying a well thrown high breaking ball is a well thrown breaking ball, I’m saying the numbers are skewed in favor of the breaking ball because hitters don’t look for it. After “x” amount of time the numbers would naturally shift toward the hitter as they adjust
