In Starting Over, Burt Reynolds gives one of his finest performances as a macho man who gets ditched by his beautiful wife, Candice Bergen, and has to start his life anew. Enter Jill Clayburgh. Burt as an insecure guy is a must-see for all movie buffs.

Remembering Alan Pakula on his birthday. He directed some great films, the most famous being Klute and All the President's Men. I also suggest two lesser-known titles to celebrate him: the paranoia masterpiece The Parallax View and the marital comedy Starting Over. 1/2

Rewatching War and Peace. I was pretty harsh the first (and only) time I saw it—I was too influenced by the novel. Now I’m enjoying it, flaws and all.
