Realistically, I don’t love Kentucky’s position at this point in the offseason, but I’m not going to be in a negative loop for six months before a game is played.
Kentucky has the most money in CBB left to spend.

@Lindsay_Schnell @KUHoops I was highly critical of him after Peach Jam, but I’m so proud of his growth as a person. I noticed it during the Hoop Summit. It’s easy to write him off as a “bad” kid, but he’s also just a kid. Kids grow, learn, and change with time. He seems to have found a better path.

A program of Kentucky’s status and means — and aspirations — not having a GM (and frankly, a full scouting/roster management staff) is simply malpractice in 2026.

John Calipari has always been an innovator. Must be now. CBB is a different animal than even a year ago. Blow up the whole staff structure. Hire a young hotshot from the NBA as a "general manager." Bring the (very smart) NIL job under that, add scouting and analytics staff.

@HSTopRecruiting To replace Pope next year, they need a home run and Donovan is an obvious choice if he remains unemployed. As we saw with UNC, it’s not easy to get that home run hire. I’m sure he’ll be fine, but I’m not worried about UNC next year based on their class so far.
