Honest taxpayers spend time, money and mental energy responding to system-generated notices. Compliance should build trust, not fear. Data analytics should assist, not harass. Living within your means is a hard concept to implement. Two simple rules help:- 1) If you can't afford to buy something twice, do not buy it once (Eg. a house's EMI). 2) Save (& invest) at least 20% of your salary, irrespective of the money you make. 3) If you do the above 2 consistently, retirement planning happens automatically. Point being: good & bad financial habits compound (fast!)
