I will never hire anyone to do CAD without looking at part files of stuff they've made. I just opened a part made by an ex-coworker and a simple two part 3D printed enclosure for a thumb drive sized PCB has 378 features, 73 sketches, and takes 8 seconds to rebuild. What a mess 🤮

On the complete opposite end of things...
If you have plastic or rubber parts, you can use liquid nitrogen or dry ice to freeze the burrs & flashing, then tumble or blast them away.
All other surfaces are left pristine & clean.
Cryogenic deburring.
So cool.

I wonder how the first person figured this process out? > grab a part that's loaded with sharp burrs > stick it in a chamber filled with gas > ignite that puppy > boom > your entire part is smoothly & accurately deburred, inside & out. This is 5x the global average wage, by the way. I'm a welder and have no problem with this. If you want 5x the global average wage, you need to do 5x the work. If you want 10x the average, do 10x the work. Personally, the only way I see to get there is through automation. I want 1000’s of welding robots under my control and I will charge accordingly

This is the REAL reason behind the 3D printing bans.
The corporations that hold manufacturing contracts, charging $5,644 for a $10 (or less) part, aren’t going to let 3D printing take that from them.
Micro-manufacturing in the hands of the average human is disruptive.

A U.S. Marine Corps release on March 23, 2026 detailed how Lance Cpl. Eirick Schule developed a 3D-printed replacement for the MUOS antenna mast in April 2025, cutting costs from $5,644 per unit to about $10 and reducing delivery time from over 7 months to 10 hours, with 107 units produced and an estimated $600,000 saved.

Fun fact... I had my phone lines wire-tapped by the FBI when I was a professional hacker 25 years ago.
I called to transfer my Chicago home phone and ISDN lines from our 47th floor apartment to the 8th floor, and when they had trouble, a support rep told me there was a hold code on my lines. They were new, so they put me on hold, looked the codes up, then came back and told me that there was a federal wire-tap (I can't remember the words he used). He then laughed and expressed how he was probably not supposed to tell me that.
I remember laughing, but wasn't surprised -- it was the business I was in.
