@RyanTaylorSport I would suggest to travel earlier and do training at even more altitude in Mexico. There are sites reaching 3000-4000 meters above sea level

Thomas Tuchel notes there "will be a lot of obstacles" waiting for England when they collide with Mexico at the Estadio Azteca. Adds the FA have already done extensive research & concluded "it's physically just not possible" to adapt to altitude. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⬇️ mirror.co.uk/sport/football…

@UtdXclusive The only way INEOS will spend and be aggressive in the market is if MU ends up in relegation zone next season as SPURS.

Never going to happen but if Man Utd sign Bruno G.. I can forgive them for missing out on Mateus Fernandes.

@AliceTalksFooty Scott is a better deal and believe it could be negotiated below £80. Wharton is a better option if available, even if it’s higher than £80. So is Tchou at a higher fee. I think with Fernandes wasn’t about the amount but the value for money.

When we walked away from Branthwaite at £70m there were loads of good £50m alternatives. All the Mateus alternatives (Scott, Baleba, Nmecha) are being quoted for the same fee £80m 😭😭 That’s why I’m annoyed we didn’t pay up…

@MartienBall To prioritize MU is what’s important; It will give some leverage for a better deal. If Tchou is up for sale and willing to move, how many top teams now could be interested or able to pay?

“INEOS want players who only want United” So if Tchouameni is open to other clubs, United should just walk away from him as well? And the same logic applies to the next target too? If a player ticks every box and would instantly raise the level of the team, but is also in demand and considering his options, are United just supposed to give up? Is that really the strategy they’re using to build a great squad? 😭

@AliceTalksFooty I think it was the right decision to not pay such amount for Fernandes. Even though the market is wild, there are still better options in terms of quality per £.

Matues Fernandes is not worth £85m but the market is inflated. Baleba and Alex Scott (our alternatives) will be a similar fee. Personally think United should've paid up and got it done even if the price is a JOKE for a relegated player.

@AliceTalksFooty I Have 2 issues with £80m for Fernandes; 1: They are pushing Man Utd into a bidding war and 2: He’s not worth that money.

@JacobHorsfall_ Too optimistic! And that’s fine. Just remember that in knockout stages there will be teams playing the same style as Ghana, specially when they saw the result. A team winning the cup must do more than that and a bit of luck

England struggling against a low block doesn’t bother me too much. On another day we put away 1 or 2 of those chances. Also, it’s very rare that we will face a team like that in the knockouts. Keep smiling, it’s coming home 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

England is getting criticized for how they're playing vs Ghana, but there's no real need for urgency here. They already beat their biggest threat in the group, they can sleepwalk through Ghana+Panama and still win the group.

@tobyasky They simply don’t know how to break low blocks; Never in England’s recent history, there’s been a player able to break it. No creativity or ability to go through lines. It’s not in their DNA and opponents know it.

From England’s point of view, I do not think Thomas Tuchel got anything wrong. Ghana’s set up was brilliant. However, I think he delayed the changes. Bellingham, Gordon and Harry Kane should not come out at half time in my opinion. Harry was absent all through. Watkins could have gotten a run in. Jude, my problem with him from day 1 is that he’s not calm, always plays like he’s fighting with someone or someone is chasing him, too agitated. He should have been subbed at half time. Gordon, two bad games on the bounce. Not good enough. O’Reilly changed the game, that attacking threat he poses is crazy, Morgan Rogers and Rashford were decent too. Saka had the only attempt because I saw the stat in the first half, there was zero shot on target, that’s madness. The game was a difficult one for England, Tuchel has to prepare more for low-block oppositions. Kudos to Ghana too. Game plan executed perfectly.
TobyWrites@tobyasky

From Ghana’s point of view, they were very realistic to themselves today. Carlos Queiroz is a seasoned coach and he won’t lie to himself. He knows he can’t match England band for band, so he went for a more pragmatic style, let’s set a low block and counter. Tuchel was also expecting that because he said it in his pre-match. Inaki, Semenyo, and Ayew just had to be hard working. They worked their asses off. I mean, Semenyo was still running in the last minutes. I was worried the subs would lose that hard work but they knew their assignment. Fatawu and Prince Adu worked so hard. Oh my guy SIBO, the commentary also mentioned that the name means WARRIOR, bro fought till the end, my guy Caleb Yirekyi was busy meeting Declan Rice know who is the boss😅, there was a time he collided with Dec and Dec was rolling on the floor, Sibo and Caleb were very physical, kudos to them. Opoku dropped a 10/10 masterclass. He wasn’t only defending, have you seen his diagonal passes? Partey glued the midfield with his calmness. Asare turned up when necessary, especially that last minute punch for the corner, it was bold to come out, Ghana might not win the World Cup, but they’ve sent out a message, THEY ARE DIFFICULT TO BEAT.
