@ReichlinMelnick Fully separate from this situation because this is all around bad and looks like murder. In a legal perspective getting separation from a threat is a good idea. You are still capable of shooting a gun while on the ground. And shooting is inherently meant to cause deadly force.

If the man dies, this is murder. There’s no possible legal rationale for backing up and firing multiple shots into a man who’s lying flat on the ground. There’s no ambiguity here. Those shots are to kill, not to stop a threat.
