@HackneyNEU
The Hackney branch of the NEU has over 2000 members. We defend comprehensive and inclusive state education and oppose privatisation and selection

Proud to be standing with members at St Dominic's Primary School in Hackney today. This and 3 other schools in the borough face closure due to a declining pupil role. Gentrification and high living costs have meant London has been at the sharp edge of this crisis. However, a record low birth rate means this could soon be happening to a school near you anywhere in 🇬🇧. This year is the first year when there has been fewer pupils in our schools. Once these schools are closed, the community resource is lost for ever. We currently have the highest class sizes in Europe with 1,000,000 being taught in class sizes of 31 or more. Government should invest in education and our children - and instead of allowing school closures, use this as an opportunity to bring class sizes down closer to a european average. Class sizes of 20 are a good thing! Save our schools!

And the Trade Union bloc, supported by @The_TUC and most unions will also be marching on the #26Oct #StandUpToRacism demo
