I'm seeing more people say that AI won't replace writers, but it will replace editors. Let's set the record straight. AI is a bad editor. VERY bad. It is not accurate, dependable, balanced, or unbiased. Are there bad human editors? Of course. Is there a good AI editor? Not unless you're writing for AI to enjoy your work (and also want AI companies to steal and train on your intellectual property.) It's not worth the money you'll save. It will make your work boring and generic. It will not preserve your voice. It rarely even gets grammar and basic style rules right (source: I worked at an AI company at one time). It will suggest "edits" that are actually just exact copies of your fellow authors' work. Do not resolve your frustration with the editing industry by relying on an extremely flawed tool created by companies that have zero concern for copyright, intellectual property, and creativity. Writers will not move forward by disrespecting and disregarding the work of good editors.

@wwxwashere You can't please everyone, you write because you like it. People may also like it; they may hate it, too. That doesn't make you any less of a writer. Plus, everyone has their starting points; no one becomes a legend overnight.

This woman checked her camera and saw that another woman came and stole her whole gate for her fence. She drove around the neighborhood and found the car and the gate. She ended up calling the police and when the police arrive, the first thing they ask her to do is to show the video. She took offense at first because she thought they didn’t believe her. Turns out they did believe her, they just thought the whole thing was so unbelievable they wanted to see it too. After they all had their laugh they went and helped her get her fence back. This ended well for her but do you think it was wrong they wanted to see the video for their laugh first?

Tests exist to verify you mastered the material, not to see if you’re a better hacker than the software. And who learns? Nobody. The AI spits out answers; you copy-paste. You walk away with a grade and zero retention. Six months later you’ll still be googling the basics while the honest kid who studied actually knows their stuff. Short-term win, long-term self-own. College is already expensive—why pay for a credential that proves nothing? Use the AI to master the content instead of dodging it.
