@abitofwhimsy_ lol very fair. i’ve been posting fic in various places since ~2009 and it’s really incomparable. wrote what was eventually considered a “fandom classic” in 2014 for a very large fandom and that took months to hit 100k

@minrozanov Also for any new writers who may move to other fandoms in the future: HR STATS ARE INSANELY HIGH. There are fics that clock in a day or so what fics in other fandoms take YEARS to accumulate.

for newer authors, just remember that ao3 stats are arbitrary as hell tbh and that fic format and tropes can impact interactions A LOT

This is super angsty, so like beware, but it's amazing. Ilya gives Shane a career ending injury in 2008, they reconnect years later, and Shane low-key becomes Ilya's sugar baby? But in an angsty "your career should've been mine" kind of way

@vesnushkaas ya exactly. and it’s always better to write the format you enjoy! equally valuable skill in writing short, entertaining, easy-read stuff (we know i’m incapable lmao) as long plotty epics. there’s a reader for everything, even if interactions across fic type might look different

@minrozanov One of my fandoms on main was always going to war over the likes chat fics got vs. long fics. But speaking to people who read both, chat fics just tend to require less brain power and are easier to consume in one sitting after a long day vs. long fics saved as a rainy day treat
