For some fans of Napa Valley wine, the moment a winery gets a 100-point score, that's the time to start buying from somebody else. wine-searcher.com/m/2026/05/the-…

Ding is, Boet, betaalde 'ratings' is nie geloofwaardig in die geval waar die wyne met oop etikette beoordeel word nie? Media etiek 101
Albrecht Gantz@albrechtgantz

@emilejoubert Very difficult to maintain without some form of compensation - time, effort, exposure, etc. Younger and newer wine drinkers tend to refer to Vivino scores (!), while others know how to interpret the various critics' scores by now. Nominal cost cheap relative to the exposure imo.

South African wine certification body finding new ways of being petty. From next year, front-labels of will also have to bear descriptors 'Dry White Wine', 'Dry Red Wine', 'Dry Rosé' etc. As in, Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon Dry Red Wine, Simonsig Chenin Blanc Dry White Wine. Why?

When you wait 31 years to open a wine with good friends, that’s been impeccably stored and it simply stinks of TCA - time to abandon the natural cork or boycott the clowns who use them. Diam is faultless and a guarantee of ZERO TCA.

Rassie Erasmus explaining the right way to do transformation (it's not white out and black in). You must create a big pool of talent so the country wins by having more options. This is the opposite of what ANC, EFF, MKP, Rise Mzantsi and other believe transformation means

"Jacques Kallis is the best cricketer that's ever played. I don't care about all the others. Full stop. 13,000 runs, 45 Test hundreds, and nearly 300 wickets. Either one of those careers is outstanding, but to have them both in the one person is just incredible." — Ricky Ponting

#RugbyScoop | TRUST, RUGBY IS LOSING ITS TRUST (longish read) The game is losing its trust and honesty at all levels. @WorldRugby has allowed this circus to continue for far too long. Fans are losing trust in the system's transparency. I can go back to the Rugby World Cup Final 2023, where the main topics were Savea’s penalty (which Wayne Barnes apologised for mid-game without reversing it, gifting the Boks an easy 3 points BUT were willing to go back to a knock on from a Line Out which NZ scored after multiple phases) and the high shots by Siya and Cane judged differently. Yes, I am familiar with officiating having Low degree and High degree impact in varying situations when it comes to high shots Last night's game between UBB and Bath has created the same if not similar controversy. Instead of admiring and applauding a good game of rugby, we are discussing referee decisions. This has become the trend in rugby since the Lions Tour to South Africa in 2021, inspired by a lack of trust in the system by Rassie “In Your Head” Erasmus 😉 Seeing that the mandate is to have less TMO involvement in the game, I’ve said this before and will say again, the referees and their on-field team of 3 needs to be super sharp & accurate on decisions. Not so long ago, the French were awarded a penalty in the Six Nations over a high tackle - on field referee had missed this but TMO quickly chimed in after two phases & we saw Mika stick his arm out for advantage in over time, France ended up winning the Six Nations. Fans want to see consistency in the game.

"South Africa differs from 'failed states' in one important aspect: we have a vibrant, competent, committed private sector. Whatever gov cannot do, the private sector can fix it tomorrow. If government gets out of the way, this country can turn on a tickey." — Christo Wiese
