@Pirat_Nation As long as you realize that AI is probably sourcing it's information from reddit, you'll treat it as reliably as you treat reddit and you'll be fine.

A new study from Wharton researchers found that many people now "surrender" their thinking to AI. When given wrong answers from AI, users followed them about 80% of the time. Their accuracy got worse than if they had worked alone. Yet they felt more confident anyway. The study calls this "cognitive surrender." AI acts like a third way of thinking that can replace our own effort.

NEW: Musician Murphy Campbell says she isn’t making money on YouTube because an AI company is cloning her music and filing copyright claims against her own videos “An entity called Timeless Sounds IR uploaded AI-generated versions of my songs to all major streaming platforms... They used a distributor, which I just discovered, and that distributor’s name is Vydia. They used Vydia to upload all these AI-generated songs. Vydia has since decided to make copyright claims on all of the videos that were used to feed that AI engine to sound like me. So Vydia has come forward and made copyright claims on my YouTube page. Because YouTube does not personally review these things, I am no longer making money on YouTube. Vydia is making money on YouTube off of my own videos of me playing my own banjo in my own backyard with traditional folk songs, some for my own family, over AI-generated music.”

Be kind, make friends, share your progress and make a good game with good intentions. I have made most of my wishlists from here on X via networking and by keeping people aware of the progress of Becoming Captain. I don't have much funds for ads so I rely on being human.

@UnityCodeMonkey Back when I used Youtube as a source of information for game dev, I had a 2 year rule. Any video older than 2 years was ignored. Generally the game tools themselves change too much to use old tutorials. I've moved to AI now for queries as I get faster answers than through videos.

@Pirat_Nation AI is still a very useful tool, but it's not actually AI. It's not sentient. But our corporate overlords decided to go stupid for the tech and decided to destroy everything in the process of promoting it. AI would have been just fine running off our own models on our PCs.

Ayakamods (Nexus mod alternative) claims Nexus mods is contacting other modding server owners saying they will limit their support if servers promote any alternative modding host providers.

@Grummz Sounds like they want to maintain their effective monopoly.

This is crazy. NexusMods is going around threatening modders if they mention AyakaMods. All AyakaMods does is host what NexusMods will not because NexusMods is a censoring cluster-f.

It's not that people are falling out of love for gaming. It's the fact that studios aren't putting out quality titles anymore & developers showing outright contempt towards the gaming audience. It's also the fact that games are $70+ & developers pushing politics.

@Pirat_Nation I think this is going to be a harder sell just because of the target audience. Triple A is kept alive by the normie paypigs that have more money than time, while indie players have options. Many many options.

Nobody asked for this, and no one wants a subscription for indie games.

@RinoTheBouncer Horizon Zero Dawn. Okay, so the dinosaurs are robots, is that why people love it? Maybe it's a console thing and I'm more of a PC guy.

@VoidmawGames Always remember that the people pirating games were never going to buy it anyways. At the very least, you'll get name recognition from the pirates spreading it on the internet, which could lead to sales if the game is good enough.

went into debt to make Katanaut solo. found a reddit thread today explaining how to pirate it. im not some triple-A-billion-dollar studio. i share a bathroom with four people. i ate cup ramen for dinner last night. been wearing the same hoodie for six days. its not even mine😅
