@benvspak Meh.. Building in Public is great when you want 25 other people to steal your idea and race you to launch day.
Everything else I'll agree with you on though, Ben!
7 things I wish I knew before building my first product:
1. Validation theater is not validation
2. Building in private is procrastination with better branding
3. Your first pricing is almost always too low
4. Distribution beats features every time
5. Most "feedback" is just people being polite
6. Launching once is not a strategy
7. Nobody is coming to discover your product - go find your users
Tbh, I've never signed up for a waitlist and actually bought that product. I have bought/subscribed to brand new stuff with a solid website that clearly defines the issue/solution. Obviously I don't speak for everyone, just my person experience.
You're a good developer, you have good taste, trust yourself and execute man. Not every product will succeed, just keep plugging away.
Execute. Keep the idea to yourself until you've got enough momentum to launch. Otherwise, somebody will swipe your idea and you'll have competition out the gate.
I think waitlists are pointless, they don't convert like everyone thinks they will. Just because people signal they're interested doesn't mean they're willing to pay.
You just got a god-tier idea for a app/saas.
What is your literal next step?
A) Open Claude Code and start working
B) Build a waitlist landing page
C) Cold DM 50 potential customers
D) Tweet the idea to see if anyone cares
Be honest.
We lived in an apartment years ago and the maintenance team decided on a Friday to go through like 60+ apartments and swap all the smoke detectors, they boxed them up and tossed them in the trash compactor dumpster....with the batteries still in them, like 300 smoke detectors all beeping and freaking out for 2 days 😭😭

@RealProductGirl I have been rejected by Apple during submission of my first macOS app. This was my fourth rejection today - a network error I cannot reproduce … very frustrating …
@RealProductGirl@Lovable It can be overwhelming but I think it benefits far out weight the learning curve. And, you've got a whole community to ask for advice. You got this.
The results are in. 👀
Tomorrow I drop everything I learned from building on @Lovable with ZERO coding experience.
