The “retcon” of TRoS turned out to be a muddled mess of nonsensical storytelling and recycled plot points (basically all JJ knows how to do) which is why Rise failed compared to TLJ critically and commercially. Solo failed period.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) keeps getting dismissed over a thirty-second origin gag, while the rest of the film just moves. Train heist, Donald Glover locking into Lando & a crew dynamic that actually clicks. It never really got judged on what it is.

@KenMathis @TheCinesthetic The opening weekend difference between TLJ and RotS was about 15% less. There’s your disgruntled fans. I recognize they exist but again they are a minority in the real world and overly-represented & noisy on social. And Solo failed all by itself. It was not a good movie.

TRoS made $300 million less than TLJ & half of TFA, so it is yet another data point on how bad TLJ hurt Star Wars.

@Thecream06 @IGN I was super hyped for this game, but after seeing reviews, that hype is gone. Sounds like there's a lot of unnecessary frustration & wasting-of-time going on. Give it a year or so of patching & it could be something special. Still worried about base console performance.

Pretty astonishing. In Texas, between 10:00 am and 4:00 p.m., 80-90% of electricity comes from carbon free sources. And storage is already a significant contributor in the early morning and evening

@Decalogier @eurogamer The polygons are polygons. It's only the lighting that's changed. I do think the effect is dialed up a bit too much, like over sharpening a sharpness filter, but that can be adjusted. Even with that, the Starfield DLSS 5 images look much better to me.

@KenMathis @eurogamer I have to disagree. A few of those examples look okay and the wrinkles and added details on some models are fine and will probably be improved in the future. But for now I say let polygons be polygons.

@EternalShrek @eurogamer Right back at you. Starfield with DLSS 5 on is head-and-shoulders better looking than with it off. Like it isn't even close. It's a generational improvement. Do you even know what DLSS 5 is doing? It is just improving the lighting. That's it.
