@ecwestcott Couldn’t agree more Emma. Today we are supposed to get excited about a tax cut equating to a few pennies, whilst public services are cut to the bone and arts and culture are seen as trivial or irrelevant.
Too many people know the cost of everything but the value of nothing.

I wonder if an election sooner after the pandemic might have raised the horizons of our politicians and galvanised aspirations of this calibre. We are at a moment where a profound reset is needed but you wouldn’t know it from the contemporary discourse.

I've been re-reading the 1945 manifestos for a thing next week. The sections on education - written in the middle of an economic crisis, with a huge job of reconstruction ahead - make quite a contrast with the narrowly econometric vision we get today.

Sorry but is such a sh*t idea. There is LITERALLY NO POINT in dwelling on what’s done, and it could well be positively counterproductive. Just try to forget it and move on to your next exam.

@HoppyPelican There's nothing inspirational about this crap plastered allover acute ward walls...or laminated in staff offices or in those simley be kind emojis on email signatures...can't be the only rmn to think that. Surely.

Can we ban trite shite like this on wards please? It’d be useful if staff could cover the walls of their offices in this as a reminder that they also need to do their bit.

@ProfTimBale It is courteous to ask but I wouldn’t deny someone a reference if they didn’t ask me first. Some people may not realise that asking a referee first is common practice, depending on their previous experience
