I have not seen a better graphic representation of the cultural divide that exists in this country. The most important voting issue for young people was cost of living & affordable housing. The most important voting issue for boomers was Donald Trump. The least important factor was making Canada a better place to live. Canada is great for boomers. Given the youth vote is trending CPC and the Student Vote just went CPC (I think for the first time ever?) - it may be worth the LPC considering whether or not they want Canada to be great for young people, too.

@TrondFrantzen I won’t cry one bit. My natural gas bill alone will save me $80-100 a month for which I pay in carbon tax. Not to mention gasoline as I live in rural Alberta and I have to drive to do anything or go anywhere.

Well, Alberta, get ready. Tomorrow you’ll receive the federal government’s carbon tax rebate. A few hundred dollars will be automatically deposited to your bank account, unless you still like paper, in which case you’ll get a cheque in a few days. You’ll probably get another payment of several hundred dollars in April. Then, that’s it. No more after that. Pierre Poilievre has promised to cancel the carbon tax (and he will probably be the new prime minister), which means no more rebates. Not a penny. Will you notice the difference in the price of eggs? Milk? Chicken? I’m betting you won’t. Price of gas? Probably not. Will your rent or mortgage go down? Don’t think so. But the carbon tax will be gone. And so will the $$$ rebate that goes into your bank account.

An Amnesty Order, expiring October 30, 2025, has been introduced which protects owners who were in legal possession of one or more of these newly prohibited firearms on the day the amendments to the Classification Regulations came into force, December 5, 2024. The Amnesty Order allows individuals the time to come into compliance with the law. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE NEWLY PROHIBITED FIREARMS: -Owners are to keep them securely stored in accordance with their previous classification. -They cannot be legally used, sold or imported. -They may only be transported under limited circumstances as set out in the Amnesty Order. -They cannot be legally used for hunting unless allowed through the Amnesty Order.* -They cannot be used for sport shooting, either at a range or elsewhere. WHAT ARE YOUR OPTIONS: Securely store the affected firearms in accordance with their previous classification and wait for further information from the Government of Canada on next steps. Have your firearms deactivated by a licensed firearms business certified in deactivation. Legally export your firearm. They could have saved a lot of trouble and sent us all an email that said "Keep using your firearms safely" This ban is insane, ineffective, costly, confusing and does nothing to solve the problem of gang violence in large cities.

@jarluh Go help out the neighbours ranch even if it’s just a few times. I hear of quite a few people in our area lately say with the market right now wanting to “buy cows” but have zero handling experience, facilities, or fences for that matter.

It seems like people think because I have a podcast that I am pretty knowledgeable. Many people wanting to get into agriculture reach out to ask what my advice for them would be to get started in farming or ranching. I have my thoughts but I'm curious what folks with more experience and wisdom would recommend to those folks who want to get started.
