🚨 Death Sentence for 22-Year-Old Student Ehsan Faridi Ehsan Faridi, a 22-year-old Turkish student of Manufacturing Engineering at Tabriz Technical Faculty, is now at imminent risk of execution after his death sentence on the charge of “efsad fel-arz” (corruption on earth) was upheld by the Supreme Court. He was first arrested on June 18, 2024, after being summoned to Tabriz Prosecutor's Office, Branch 15. Initially charged with “propaganda against the regime,” he was temporarily released on bail. About 40 days later, the charge was escalated to “efsad fel-arz,” leading to re-arrest and transfer to Tabriz Central Prison. In September 2025, Branch 3 Revolutionary Court of Tabriz, presided over by Judge Hassan Fathpour, sentenced him to death. His mother publicly broke her silence after 17 months of pressure to stay quiet, stating: “A 20-year-old who only wanted to live cannot commit corruption on earth.” He is now in Tabriz Central Prison. With the escalation of arrests and heavy charges amid the ongoing war, and the regime threatening citizens with the harshest punishments if they say a single word against the Islamic Republic, Ehsan's execution risk is extremely high. In a statement for Student Day, Ehsan wrote: "Freedom is not imposed from outside; it is born from the faith and will of these same students and people of our land. You are the living hopes of this country. You will build Iran's future, you who believe in freedom, do not trade truth, and in the hardest moments choose standing over forgetting and compromise." @tombennett71 @catrionamoore13 Reading is reading and teaching is teaching. Being read to, and providing lovely contexts for reading and experiencing books, are important but different things. You still need to be able to read, well, to read.

What? Literal babies love sitting down with a book. Then they start telling the stories before they can read the words. One of my daughter's first words was 'story' & my niece called the local bookshop 'the story shop'. Then they learned to read, but they knew what books were for
