I've had some time to consider yesterday's Senate hearing on the Protect College Sports Act. It framed robust #NIL and collective activity as threats to competitive balance and Olympic sports. But NIL is not the crisis. It's not the culprit of "chaos." It doesn't require anyone to "save college sports." It is the market correction to decades in which institutions and the NCAA profited from athletes without providing them meaningful compensation. Any federal legislation must strengthen, not constrain, athlete NIL rights and mobility. Preempting strong state laws, imposing artificial distinctions between "legitimate" deals and market arrangements, or layering new transfer restrictions cannot and must not be done in the absence of bargaining with athletes. Athletes built the value. People seem to be missing that point. They believe coaches deserve riches and athletes should be pleased with whatever pittance they're provided. No. Athletes deserve a framework that treats them as the principal stakeholders and not as afterthoughts.

This is well done. You mention diversity in cities but one thing that seems lacking in cities is diversity of thought. The groupthink is overwhelming. It’s almost odd how little urban residents disagree with each other. Do you suppose that might be because of the lack of safety in cities (disagreement could leave you dead in an alley)? Could it be higher education?

@KenLaCorte Small towns lean left also. There seems to be a lot of talk from both sides about getting away from “career Politicians” but when Trump came along, the divide became cataclysmic. Universities and Unions push a left narrative… because they have malleable minds they can mould.

@KenLaCorte Trump built a populist movement giving voice to many exploited on the left & underrepresented by elected officials on the right. He had come from the left, employed people, built business. He saw the left reject U.S. values and tear down history in real time. MAGA is a big tent

To those who want to ignore the Second Amendment and would like to disarm gun owners, look at what is happening in Iran, where the population has been disarmed.

Jay, you’re a labor and employment lawyer so you know this is a really dumb, dishonest argument, LSU will pay a buyout to NC St to be able to sign Will Wade. He was an employee & signed a contract. How many players have paid damages to switch schools & sign new contracts? Any?

And your point. ? Take sweet 16 over title. Maybe it helped by making them a better seed. Which means nothing if they don’t get at least to sweet 16
