the tweet has it backwards. kim passed the baby bar in 2021. what she's actually pausing is the california bar exam, which is a different and much harder test. people don't appreciate how brutal that test actually is. - the california bar fails roughly half of all first-time takers. that includes harvard, stanford, and berkeley law grads. it has one of the lowest pass rates in the country and has for decades - the format is 12+ hours over two days. 200 multiple choice questions across seven subjects, six essays, and a performance test. recommended prep is 400-600 hours of focused study over 8-10 weeks. most people quit their jobs to do it - repeat taker pass rates collapse. recent california sittings show repeats around 12%. once you fail, the math gets worse, not better. the people retaking are studying harder, but the test was already calibrated against people studying full-time - kim's path is harder than most. she's doing california's law office study program, which means apprenticing under a lawyer instead of going to law school. that route requires passing the baby bar (~25% pass rate, she did on attempt four) before you can even sit for the actual bar - six years in is normal for this path, not an indictment. the LOSP track is one of the most difficult ways to get licensed in america. only a handful of states even allow it. most people who start it never finish - the broader thing is that the bar hasn't gotten easier. for decades the california pass rate has hovered around 50% for first-timers. it doesn't matter where you went to law school. it doesn't matter how famous you are. the test does what the test does

@SteveLovesAmmo This is too heavy to be practical. There was an idea a good few years ago that if you compress tarpaulin and Kevlar layered with epoxy resin to make a composite material, it could feasibly stop rounds. Might want to try that. Because a tile and aluminum plate just screams spall.
