There are many lessons to learn from this. The very first is that if you want any change at all, you are going to have to vote Reform. Get used to it because whilst the. 6.8% showing didn't make a difference this time, it most definitely will in closer constituencies. This was Labour voters voting against Starmer, not for Labour. This constituency has voted ove r 70% Labour before. With under 60% and a general election level turnout (absolutely stunning for a by election), this was not a resounding win for Burnham. This was an election of two halves. One half wanted Starmer out at all costs. The other half wanted Labour damaged at all costs. The big lesson here is the right split and Labour benefitted. Now try a seat with only a 5% majority. Reform can hoover these up easily. If they can take 40%of the vote in a Labour Donkey seat, they can sweep as high as 10% on a general election. But not with Restore taking 8% 9f the vote. It is brass tacks time. The Tories were decimated, the Lib Dems were humiliated, even Restore got 17x their vote. If we want a change in 2029, them the right has to rally around those who can win, not gift a win to some shoddy warmed over Labour mess or far worse, a coalition of losers led by a rabid a Labour and controlled by the SNP and the Greens. Never has it been more important what you do with your vote and never in my lifetime has the opportunity been so great for change. Not even Thatcher faced what we see today. So think it. Over, you have 3 years. Oh and whilst you are at it with your English centric view of the UK, did you know there were two more UK parliament elections going on at the same time and did you follow the vote?
