What John Tory is deliberately doing is trying to overturn those election results. As council isn’t a party system, it’s less obvious, but it’s clear from that vote. Which is reprehensible. Illegitimate. And unnecessary.

Corruption at a level I haven't seen or heard before in Canadian politics. Connected billionaires buy protected, unusable land, then magically that land becomes profitable overnight. Any support of @fordnation & @SteveClarkPC's corrupt housing bill gives permission to this.

So the De Gasperis family decided to pay $21 million a year to borrow $100 million for a piece of Greenbelt land that wasn’t supposed to be developed? Why would anyone do that unless they had a crystal ball or some other way to know that they could develop the land in the future?

Now, if John Tory and Doug Ford move forward with their deceitful agreement to approve Bill 39, Toronto will have the only elected legislative body in the world that will make decisions by minority rule. That is the antithesis of democracy, and cannot be allowed to stand.

Mayor @_MarkSutcliffe and Ottawa city council have now formally rejected Doug Ford’s offer of undemocratic minority rule powers. Mayor John Tory must call a special meeting of Toronto city council, rescind his request of these powers, and commit to the basic tenets of democracy.
