I once dated a guy whose parents were in this category, and the most interesting thing was that it seemed to be a general issue with information uptake/comprehension. I once watched the news with them and after the segment ended one of them proceeded to recount the main story with a majority of the facts wrong. it was something like "a van drove through a crowd on Monday injuring 2 and the driver was arrested" and he was saying things like "a van drove through a crowd last night and killed a guy and they don't know who did it." it was pretty surreal.

If you have the basic skills to participate in the discourse at all — like you can read and comprehend a New York Times article in order to complain about it — you’re in a weird, out of touch, elite bubble. slowboring.com/p/in-defense-o…

This is sad. I know as a politician these companies are going to spend a billion dollars against me for saying it but 🤷🏽‍♀️ Pervasive gambling is not good for society. It turns life into a casino, traps people in addiction & debt, surges domestic violence, and fosters manipulation.

We are in a period of historic global realignment. In 20 to 30 years it's quite possible that the global order will look like this: 1. The USA's closest allies will be Eastern Europe, Latin and South America, Japan, Israel, Iran, India and the Gulf Arab States. 2. Rapprochement between the USA, Russia and China will have been achieved. Not allies per se, but not a threat to each other. 3. The countries that will be the USA's biggest adversaries will be the Islamized Western European nations. NATO will have dissolved. Also we will be in a non-hot war of ideas with Australia and New Zealand. 4. Canada will still be Canada. And Africa will still be Africa. 5. Pakistan and Afghanistan will still be a mess. 6. I'm unsure about South Korea. 7. Greenland will be the most popular American casino tourist destination, second only to Las Vegas. ("What happens in Greenland stays in Greenland.") 8. Cuba libres will be great again. 9. The American flag will be flying on Mars in Elontown.

Wachspress has now published an essay about her allegation. She says that she was a junior when she was Biss’ student, in roughly 2004 when he’d have been about 26. He waited until the course was over and asked her out. They “made out” a few times, she says, and then he broke it off, saying he shouldn’t date a student.

W, the sacrifices of our military in the past, and those serving today are the primary reasons why “freaks” like me are free to live free in this diverse and beautiful country. Were you not old enough to remember 9/11? I didn’t fully agree with all the military actions after 9/11 at that time, mainly just the rationale for the invasion of Iraq - but the threat of our nation’s enemies is real. There were two huge smoking piles of rubble in Manhattan that made that clear.

american culture and identity is war and violence. it’s not joy. it’s not community. it’s not music. it’s perceived power. team usa’s celly is a military salute. it’s so weird. nothing has been clearer this entire tournament when compared to other countries.

This sounds like classic Trump hyperbole and bluster, but no. He's actually being quite literal here. Strikes so far have been limited to the pillars of Velayat control. The pillars of state and civilization themselves are still very much available and very easy to reach. Power plants and electrical grids, for example, are very easily destroyed. A simple power distribution system would take 3-7 years to rebuild; a full electrical system with redundancies and a capacity equal to that of today—that would take over a decade. There are about 400 power generation units in Iran—the battle group in the Gulf can legitimately destroy this in about an hour. I'd estimate they can output that many TLAMs alone in that time. Iran has ~10 oil refineries. Refineries are extremely hard and expensive to build, but relatively easy to destroy; that's what makes them such prime military targets. The battlegroup can absolutely destroy all of these in under an hour. Absent any interruption of power, it would take Iran more than a decade to restore to current throughout. Absent power, considerably longer. Trump isn't exaggerating. The United States still has many arrows in its quiver that can genuinely set Iran back decades in less than an hour. And that's only looking at oil refinement and electrical grids. I get the impression that most of the public genuinely has no idea how much damage a single Carrier Strike Group can do.
Eric Daugherty@EricLDaugh

🚨 JUST IN: President Trump says he has the capability to make it nearly IMPOSSIBLE for Iran to rebuild... ...and all of that can be done by the US military within *one hour* "It's just a question of when. When do we stop?" "The main thing is we have to win this thing, win it quickly, but win it!" "And there are many people, I'm just watching some of the news, most people say it's already been WON." "We don't want to let it re-grow. And ideally, we'd like to see somebody in there that knows what they're doing." "In other words, they can build a country." "Now, one other thing, we can hit sections of Tehran and other places that if you do it, it'll be almost impossible for them to rebuild their country. And we don't want that." "But we can hit electric. We could take apart their electric capacity within one hour. And it would take them 25 years to rebuild it. So ideally, we're not going to be doing that. Thank you very much."

The killing of schoolchildren should shock our conscience and cause us to recoil in horror. A nation whose leaders can so easily shrug off the death of children, no matter the cause, is in need of moral repair. There must be accountability and lessons learned from this tragedy. And we must never forget that Iranian children, too, are children of God.

WATCH: Israeli police raid, guns blazing, the family home of Akram Sakalla, a Palestinian member of the Lod City Council, ransacking the place and abducting Sakalla's son, supposedly in suspicion of spraying a graffiti of the Palestinian flag on the municipality building. Sakalla's son has been accused of "supporting a terrorist organization", despite the fact that Israeli law does not officially consider the Palestinian flag to be representing a "terrorist organization". Since the current war of aggression on Iran started, Israel's suppression of Palestinian speech, both in the 67 and the 48 territories, has intensified. Palestinians are being abducted and locked up in concentration camps daily for even "liking" the wrong social media post (or on completely fabricated charges)
B.M.@ireallyhateyou

🧵"Remember the provocation at Lod City Hall at the beginning of the war? Now they're settling the score with the provocateur" Yesterday in Lod: Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Yair Altman, from government propaganda outlet Channel 14, joined a large police force to gleefully and publicly raid and ransack the home of a local Palestinian citizen of Israel, and abduct him in suspicion of spraying a Palestinian flag graffiti on the Lod municipality building. The young man who was abducted is the son of Akram Sakalla, a Lod City Council member. Lod (Lyd) is a formerly-Palestinian town, ethnically cleansed in 1948, which is now a so-called "mixed city", with a large Jewish majority. The Likudnik mayor of Lod, Yair Revivo, incited against Sakalla (the father) in the past. Sakalla's son is accused of "supporting terrorism", despite the fact that Israeli law actually does not consider the Palestinian flag a "terrorist symbol". The written law is truly meaningless in "Israel" today, it's now merely a facade to cover up the crimes. In the video, the so-called "journalist", Yair Altman, invades the family's home together with the police, shows the abductee's face, unblurred, and records him being "perp-walked" cuffed and blindfolded.
