Why I don’t chase international shows like Burna Boy, Davido, others— Singer Shatta Wale explains, reveals he earns $1 million per show in Ghana Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has revealed that Ghana played the biggest role in his financial success, stating that he became wealthy through the opportunities and respect he receives in the country. Speaking about his career, the singer said he has always seen himself as an international star and believes he can earn as much as $1 million in Ghana because of the country’s strong appreciation for music and entertainment. “I didn’t get rich anywhere, I got rich in Ghana,” he said, explaining that he enjoys immense respect from political leaders, ministers, event organisers and fans across the country. According to him, the treatment he receives in Ghana is comparable to the respect global music icons such as Jay-Z and Beyoncé receive elsewhere, adding that organisers ensure his shows are properly funded and professionally executed. Shatta Wale said the earnings from performances in Ghana have enabled him to live comfortably for more than a decade, noting that some overseas offers do not match what he can make at home. He added that when promoters in cities like London offer him between £20,000 and £30,000 for a show, he often declines because the financial returns are not as attractive as those available in Ghana, where he says promoters invest heavily in entertainment and reward artists accordingly.

Only few West African artist can get paid $1M for a show with special mentions to Burna, Wiz & Davido. And as a matter of fact, Shatta Wale doesn’t fall into this bracket, he can only deceive his Ghanaian fans.

Shatta Wale believes artistes who don’t win at the TGMA should receive the money generated from votes. What do you think?
