Do you actually use handguns? I can’t think of a pistol I have bought in 20 years that has an old school “safety switch”. SS probably carries Glocks and i know they don’t have a switch safety. The safety are now built into the trigger and/or back of the grip. I am sure there are still pistols that have an ol’school safety but nobody in law enforcement has one.

From my business law classes, concealing merchandise with the intent to steal it is a crime. They usually let you get past the register so you can’t say I was going to pay. And they can slap a whole extra charge if you went to the store with the plan to shoplift, you went to the store with no or little money. Since there was two of them that’s a conspiracy charge too. The prosecutors might charge conspiracy only as a plea tactic because it is hard to prove. The prosecution would have to prove they planned or discussed shoplifting.
