No matter what you think about J Cole’s apology, he chose to publicly embarrass himself in one of the biggest moments of his career in order to stay true to himself. That’s the realest shit ever. It’s still disappointing from a rap perspective, but immensely respectable as a man

The idea that ‘Grammys are only for industry plants’ or ‘Grammys are bought’ comes from bitterness and jealousy toward artists who have built real influence within their genre through dedication and authentic work. Beyoncé holds the record for most Grammy wins in history with 32. Kendrick Lamar won five in a single night for To Pimp a Butterfly, an uncompromising, jazz-influenced concept album that took every risk imaginable. These aren’t accidents. These are the results of artists who refused to play it safe.
This narrative needs to stop, especially within hip-hop, a genre that carries more cultural weight and influence than almost anything in music today. You can’t expect the Grammys to understand and respect the art while simultaneously boycotting the institution. Engagement drives recognition. Absence only confirms the disconnect!

@OnlyTH2 @byebyetravis He owns his masters. If you own your masters, you get total control over what to do with them, including submitting them for Grammy consideration.
So either his team doesn't listen to them, or he's lying about not wanting a Grammy anymore lol
