Are there very many who have not seen the movie Donnie Brasco? Are there many who know how Joe Pistone chose that now famous name? The picture in the post is of the real Donnie Brasco and me. We had just had lunch, and while telling a story, Donnie quoted the words "Don't Forget Your Name." Instantly, we knew that was the name for a book, not just any book, but his! The story he was telling was eye-opening, yet there was so much more. Donnie will not only soon release his book as a fellow author at Scion Press, but here is the best part, quotes from his upcoming bio: "Today, I join Obscene Reality as a host and author of the upcoming book Donnie Brasco: Don’t Forget Your Name." As the pre-sales of this book by @HQTenForty go out from Scion Press this week, I look forward to what I know is next for this project and its future. Why? The hard-won wisdom in the book will benefit law enforcement in ways that only transformation and vulnerability are able. Have you read a meaningful book lately? Have you read one that gave insight and touched you emotionally? There are some books so grounded in lived experience that you feel every chapter as if you were there... This is one of them. I have been in and around publishing since 2007, and I have helped others write and market their books. Therefore, I often get to know authors well. @Paul_Derry A topic very important to our daily lives and our workforce

Do we believe in the good of society as a priority or in individual rights? I mean, as a society here in Canada? We somehow believe that individual rights trump the good of society. Why, because we see that the abuse of power can lead to a fall? Is that kind of what happened in Rome? But do we throw the baby out with the bathwater, or learn? Thinkers, like Thomas Hobbes or Jean-Jacques Rousseau, used Rome as a warning for their own theories - what do we believe as thinkers in our time? I would suggest that we look at the family as an example of a small society. Should everyone be focused on building their individual kingdoms? Would it be better to focus on society as a whole before we focus on individuals? If citizens only look out for themselves, does the "glue" that holds the country together eventually become like the glue from the dollar store? Whether it be in the family, organizations, community or country, which comes first? What is Canada based on? It seems to me that it is divided, with 40 million people screaming to make their kingdom better, with no authentic care for society as a whole. Is there a middle ground? What organizations are affected by each system, and how? Who is affected by our framework, and how? Questions that keep me up at night... Any thoughts?
