I'm almost certainly in a minority on this, but, for me at least, the thing about these people that's the biggest problem is that they're physically repellant. I find it difficult to even look at them. It's almost spiritually annihilating to do so. It's a reflexive physical disgust I've had since I first saw a photo of a transexual as a child. I can't bring myself to pretend to feel otherwise. It would be inauthentic and fatiguing for me to try to "cure" myself of this disgust. At any rate, I doubt any therapetic mechanism would work. I'm of course not advocating that anyone cultivate a physical disgust based upon a pre-existing ideological or moral position, and I'm not arguing that policies or laws should be crafted based on this disgust. In fact, I feel strongly that they shouldn't, at all. I'm just saying that my brain immediately identifies these people as being in violation of something fundamental and what I then instantly feel is an aversion to even looking at them.

I can't imagine saying about my wife what Michelle Obama just said. Barack wants the next chapter of his life to be "fun." Michelle wants it to be all about "me," as if the past few decades have been a bitter sacrifice rather than a team effort. What a sad relationship.

Massive lines spotted outside of Trader Joe's across the country after the grocery store released a new $2.99 tote bag. According to the Wall Street Journal, similar Trader Joe's bags have been listed online for $50,000 overseas in cities like London and Tokyo. One East Coast mother and daughter say they purchased 24 totes that will be shipped as gifts to their family in South Korea. In a recent statement, Trader Joe's announced it was filing a lawsuit to protect customers from knock-off totes. "We are aware that some knockoff totes are being sold online and have recently filed a lawsuit to protect our customers from being misled," Trader Joe’s said in a statement. Insane.

@aporia9n Stop with this video already. I went here when I was around 22. I stayed in cheap hotels or hostels. I did not have a lot of money, I also didn't go broke on the trip. And this popular activity is free!!

Sad thing is that most of these people are 20–27yo Gen Z trying to impress their friends by “travelling the world” and cosplaying a rich lifestyle, while not saving or building anything substantial for their life. They’ll proudly say they’ve been to 50+ countries, when in reality they spent 7 days in each and just executed the TikTok itinerary they saved before coming. The algorithm chooses the place, the pose, the restaurant and the caption. They just show up and perform it.

Social media trends have turned the world’s most beautiful places into endless bathroom lines at a concert, where everyone waits for hours just to take the same photo to show to people who couldn’t care less 🌎📸 Nothing captures the shallow decay of our time better than this

I find this right-wing cruelty to be so viscerally upsetting. The spectacle of adults publicly dissecting the identity of a 14 year old child is just so depraved. It must be psychologically punishing to be trans right now and to see, everywhere, people arguing over whether you are allowed to simply exist honestly in the world. No one deserves this. Nobody!

Lina Haaga, a male HS athlete pretending to be a girl, just wrote an article for The Guardian where he claims his transition wasn't meant to help him "gain an advantage or take something from someone else." Here's a picture of him after taking 1st place at a girls' 400m race, where he even beat out his older sister. He literally stole medals from not just other girls, but his own sister.

Being in NYC, it's amazing how different the city is from the Fox News stereotype. People are extremely well behaved, there's no hint of violence, police are everywhere, the subway doesn't feel dangerous any time day or night. It smells in some places, but that's it.

@HannahDCox And yes the hybrid mode is probably best, at least for people with family members that need help, kids or older parents. For young people staying home in your apt. all day does not sound super healthy to me. JMO.

That's always been why so many were anti-remote work though. 1. A lot more people than you think are dependent on work for socialization - very Michael Scott like. 2. A lot of others dislike their spouses and kids and want an excuse to leave every day. 3. Another group are micromanagers/people with poor management skills, and/or people whose jobs really don't need to exist if people prove able to work independently and they know it. 4. A small group loses money on commercial real estate if remote work is successful. And those groups of people are trying to hold everyone else hostage in offices.
rohit@krishnanrohit

The more I read arguments against remote work the less I find them credible. This starts with "remote work hurts mental health" then goes to say it's about those without friends/family with whom they interact. Work isn't meant to be adult daycare, just let people choose.

@HannahDCox My friend a cancer survivor has a charity that packs bags to give to people starting chemo. Occasionally offices will help pack the bags for team building, I went to one with her this week. This was the office I remember, camaraderie amongst coworkers. There is something to it.

@conor64 There are cheap hotels and hostels on Santorini. And everyone goes to that spot in the video to see the sun go down and we're doing that 30 years ago. You don't have to stay in some fancy hotel or be rich, I went a couple years after I graduated from college and was making 25k

I regret to inform you that reproductive biology is slightly more complicated than the Fisher Price version of science you seem to be operating with. Women can be born without uteruses. Women can lose uteruses to cancer. Women can have hysterectomies. Women can stop menstruating decades before death. A uterus is an organ, not a philosophical litmus test for womanhood. Plenty of women do not menstruate. Plenty never could. Who knew biological science was being rewritten by people whose understanding peaked in middle school health class.
Riley Gaines@Riley_Gaines_

If you don’t have a uterus, you cannot have a period. The fact this even has to be seriously said is a condemnation of humanity.

@feelsdesperate Great speech today but she is usually says just the opposite about Barack, that he was too busy and she was a single mom for the most part, that she gave up her career. Also being in the WH sucked, that she was criticized endlessly. She doesn't make parenthood seem fun either.

Michelle Obama is an interesting character because until the past couple years she had very high favorability and polled very well. She can deliver a speech excellently and she absolutely would have had a path to the presidency if she was a happy warrior who didn’t come off as bitter and aggrieved. For whatever reason she couldn’t manage the baseline requisite of keeping her grievances and anger private. Very odd set of ‘choices’ and it’s unclear what any of it has gotten her. She’s a very puzzling figure.

The abuse and murder of Preston Davey is nauseating. Those responsible are vile beyond words. This horror must not be weaponised against gay parents: the vast majority are loving and caring. The issue is how middle-class ‘respectability’ can shield abusers from scrutiny.
