On this International Day of #WomeninDiplomacy, I return to a guiding principle: global cooperation works best when the table reflects the world it serves. From Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, the 1st woman to preside over the #UNGA, to the women who helped shape the UN Charter, women diplomats have advanced negotiations, built bridges, and elevated priorities that matter to people’s lives. The true measure of diplomacy is not the meetings we hold, but the lives we improve. Preventing conflict and building consensus requires leadership that draws on the full diversity of talent and experience. As the @UN looks ahead to selecting its next Secretary-General, there is a historic opportunity to advance women’s leadership, strengthen trust, and renew multilateralism for the challenges of our time. Today, I pay tribute to women diplomats everywhere who work every day to bridge divides and build common ground.
