Incredible that you can pass your driver's licence at 17 years old and drive for at least another 50 years without any re-test or checks whilst simultaneously developing so many bad driving habits that would have prevented you from getting your licence in the first place.

@RioDaps @BobFromAccounts I know in light aviation it does help standards and also checks on whether people are actually medically fit etc. Used for an update on any new rules.

@RioDaps @BobFromAccounts If you only think about two months before, you'll fail because two months isn't long enough to eradicate nearly five years of bad habits. If you wanted to pass, you'd have to keep the good habits all the time. Seems lots of people are scared they wouldn't pass.

@GaryBal81230806 @BobFromAccounts The only way this might have any chance of working is to make it optional and then link it to insurance. Do the 5 year refresher course and get x percent discount. Enforcing a blunt 5 year retest will not work as people imagine here

@BobFromAccounts Maybe not a test but certainly a refresher ,drive with a qualified instructor for lesson or two to point out any bad habits.

@ims_ian @BobFromAccounts Retesting won’t do anything apart from create additional cost and admin for everyone. Suggesting adding cyclists show how much you hate the environment and freedom too. Make cycling more difficult and people will drop it.

@BobFromAccounts I am shocked, I find myself agreeing with you. All drivers should sit 5 year post passing tests, then refresher tests every 10 years on licence renewal, including eyesight checks. Treat driving is like a professional skill, and professionals need CPD. Then extend to cyclists too.

@2147mill @chriscapitale Imagine someone dying cause they don’t have £20. It won’t change the behaviour of the people you gave examples for but would prevent others from getting treatment. You should take responsibility for your own education

No EV driver should feel smug about energy prices. £1.96 a litre for diseasal means EVERYTHING will cost more. There’s diesel in the supply chain of everything you eat or buy. The Trump Tax is going to be ruinous, EV or not.
