Guys, I found out how to have the new Siri in iOS 27 I had been waiting for two days and I didn’t have it. So I was in the United States region, the United States language and what I did was change my region to the United Kingdom and my language that was what worked for me.

@Super_Tomato00 @jewiss @LelloucheNico Respectfully but this would be very dangerous for various reasons. To hightlight the most obvious one: any iPhone user would then download given software and potentially open up access to his/her private data without fully understanding the gravity of it.

How about if Apple delivered the access the EU requires, but only via a Software download, that only those interested would download? (by default it’s not in the device) Thinking that it would solve both the security issues (without downloading it, that access doesn’t exist), and those that want to use other assistants, would also get that possibility at their own peril.

EXCLUSIVE: Apple and the EU are telling very different stories on Siri AI, and right now, it's a standoff. Apple's press release and comments to @LelloucheNico say the DMA would force it to give rival assistants deep access to messages, files, photos, app actions, and personal context, creating privacy/security risks. I reached out to the EU Commission for comment, and they discussed it today (video below). They said nothing in the DMA blocks Siri AI. Apple can launch it if it complies, but it must give rivals "equivalent access" and can’t use iOS to favour its own AI. Apple proposed a “Trusted System Agent” and an 18-month rollout to ensure only approved third-party agents could run. The Commission says they weren't "DMA-compliant interoperability proposals." Whatever that means. This is a standoff over who controls the AI layer on iPhone. The EU isn’t protecting user choice here. It’s trying to regulate the iPhone’s AI layer, and EU users are the ones losing out. iPhone users can already download ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity. Apps like @poppysimplified can use your Mac to get system-level access for AI assistant apps. The EU is demanding default, system-level access for any third-party app that claims to be an AI assistant. Which is dangerous, especially given Apple's privacy-focused AI stance. Apple, respectably, is not bowing down.

@iupdate Yikes, as a EU Citizen I am watching others play in the snow while I’m locked inside. 😭 Man, Apple has really lost its “glow” for me. I will still use iPhones but with less excitement.

I THOUGHT THE IPHONE 16 WAS BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP FOR AI? Apple not supporting everything on their less than 2 year old AI devices is insane.

@davidkrammer I’ve done creating a US account on the AppStore however the “try new Siri” option puts me on the waitlist but as soon as I switch Apps it’s kicks me off the waitlist. What else do I need to do here?

@TheAppleDesign What we are missing are polished frames on the latest iPhones. They pulled it off with the iPhone Air which is why it feels so much more luxurious compared to the 17 Pro line-up. They can actually polish the aluminium frames and make phone feel premium again.

@nnnnicholas @markgurman Man nobody asked for a mini iPhone Pro smh people come up with fantasay stories. Sales show that customers want bigger and bigger iPhones. This is why the iPhone 17 Air will roll out to see if it will sell based on a bigger screen.

@markgurman iphone mini was awesome. they undersold because apple didn't make an iphone mini pro, which is what everyone wanted.

My perspective is Apple spent three years working on a UI and shouldn’t throw it away over a week of Twitter posts. (Not that the UI is perfect). That’s how we ended up with an iPhone mini that nobody who said Apple should make one actually bought or would recommend.
