I don't love this, but not for the reasons you might think. I don't think Glass' ability as a player -- or what role he filled -- matters in this role. Glass went to Dartmouth and was as loved as a player can be.
I don't love it because I'd have rather gone completely fresh.

I am not pleased with Glass being promoted to director of player development.
It's not even because of who he was as a player, it's because he's been involved in plenty of organizational failures in the prospect development department.
The whole gang needed to be let go. #NYR

I see a number of people who in one breath are big “data-driven” folks, but in the next breath suddenly are not interested in irrefutable math that says the puck was in and need to “see it with their own eyes”.

Probably (likely) the right call. Logically, it's in. But inconclusive angles meant original call stuck
