I've been following UK aid for a long time (>40 years) and the @commonsidc session with @FCDOGovUK Perm Sec yesterday (bit.ly/3TwvuwP) is about the most depressing I've come across. 0.5, lumps taken out for refugee 1st year costs. UK aid in crisis?

On these "staggering costs of net zero", a reminder the Climate Change Committee estimates £1,300bn of investment costs by 2050 across the entire economy, offset by £990bn of savings. Net cost of £310bn over thirty years. So: around £10bn a year, or 0.5% of GDP
