Spain’s energy is cheaper because they generate much more of it from renewables, which have no ongoing fuel cost, and they’ve taken steps to stop expensive gas from setting the price of everything.
In the UK, even when electricity comes from wind or solar, the price is still often driven by gas which is traded globally so we end up paying international prices.
Spain 🇪🇸 has reduced its exposure to gas, while the UK 🇬🇧 is still tied to it.

We left the EU’s integrated energy market, added friction, and reduced cooperation on supply and pricing.
So now we’re more exposed and drilling more doesn’t fix that 👉 only rejoining the EU does!
We already produce a large share of our gas and still pay global prices.

Labour and Tory MPs want new drilling in the North Sea whilst we face a growing climate, energy and cost of living crisis caused by our reliance on fossil fuels.
Approving new oil and gas licenses won’t take a penny off our bills and will fuel the climate crisis.

He sent me this photo of the largest turbine installation vessel in the world.

Back in 2003, Charles Kennedy, then leader of the Liberal Democrats stood against the US/UK war in Iraq. He initially faced intense vilification and ridicule for opposing the 2003 Iraq war, yet was later completely vindicated by the Chilcot Report. As the only major UK party leader opposing the invasion, he was heckled in Parliament, and The Sun called him a "spineless reptile" and a "snake" for his stance. But history now judges him well. We forget the lessons of history at our own peril.
