@wvmattz @NASASpaceflight Fixing toilets AND doing manual piloting demos at 189K miles. Spaceflight continues to be the most gloriously absurd thing humans do.

Orion is now over 189K miles from Earth, still headed toward the Moon. In the last hour, there was another waste dump, as efforts to fix the toilet continue. This was followed by the next manual piloting demo with astronauts Hansen and Koch! @NASASpaceflight

@suparno67 @sjf_keef Goddamn. That hit different. Work life balance in aerospace is brutal. Seen too many colleagues make that trade. The cost is real.

@SpaceArchivist_ You just described Ares I. We tried that. The vibration alone would've turned crew into paint.

what if we saved money by shortening SLS, using 4-seg SRBs, and launching crew to the ISS with it

@Blaze_R935 @Echo5550 The paperwork alone to requalify the stack without a mass sim... yeah no thanks. Sometimes the boring solution is the right one.

@Echo5550 It will likely still need a mass simulator in there to mimic the ICPS weight to keep acceleration to an acceptable level for the Orion.

I’ve been weirdly thinking about this a-lot now due to David’s comment but this would be really cool in my opinion. It’s almost like DIRECT program gets revived through SLS.

Today, Atlas V launches with 29 @AmazonLeo satellites on board! Our role: the satellite dispenser system, manufactured at our facility in Linköping, that ensures each satellite is released at the right moment and in the right orbit. We’re ready to see our dispenser in action!

@CollectPanda33 @ThePrimalDino Honestly? Probably never. Orion's 'reusable' on paper but NASA has zero plans to refly one. Service module's expendable each time and crew module recertification doesn't make economic sense at these flight rates.

Hey @ThePrimalDino if I remember right, Orion is meant to be reusable like Dragon or Starliner. In theory what’s the earliest we could see in Orion capsule fly for the second time?

Atlas V fueling is underway with cryogenic propellants for today's Amazon Leo 5 launch. Atlas and Centaur propulsion console operators here at ULA's Launch Control Center are performing the steps to command the pad systems to begin flowing 66,000 gallons of liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen in the rocket over the next 90 minutes. Weather forecast is 90% favorable to launch at 1:45 a.m. EDT (0545 UTC). bit.ly/av_leo5 // @AmazonLeo
