Education academics seem to think that invoking the word "neoliberal" is a killer argument against anything they don't like. The authors of this critique of AERO lasted all of 3 sentences before bringing it up. It's such a poor line of argument. @StevenCapp @learnwithmrlee @msrebeccabirch This is exactly why i have written my forthcoming book Learning Habits. To combine our understanding of learning with effective strategies to implement change.

I have a theory that teaching students about Dunlosky and the Bjorks is enough to lower academic stress, even if they don't apply what they know. It shifts the locus of control to "I know how to study effectively, I just choose not to," rather than "WTF am I doing?"

@learnwithmrlee @msrebeccabirch This is interesting and makes a lot of sense. Insert learning strategies for, healthy eating, exercise, saving money etc. it’s not the knowledge of what to do, but building the habits? Good old human behaviour!

You might find this paper interesting... "Even after learners are made aware of effective learn­ing strategies, they do not automatically endorse or use those strategies." Turns out changing the behavioural habit is the hard part. They need some intervention in order to make the change & then see that it works before buying into it.

@StevenCapp True. Just drives me mad when people say we are a rabble (which is partially true) but don’t acknowledge that the reason people are put of position is because they are being expected to be somewhere different to last year.

It seems a little weird that in there is a lot of talk about how the Swans should have done more to identify the problems that caused the GF disaster last year, but few acknowledging that some of the drop off this year caused by Swans changing gameplay to fix those issues.

@Smithre5 Yeah, must be a mandatory item. Agreed response to the risk of someone getting in a dust up and needing a cryptic reminder of specific moves.

@StevenCapp We never got a good look at the drum move. All in close up. Kids were surprised at the amount of blood. I forgot that PG movies in modern days are a bit less violent. Also, why did everyone have a drum on the day?
