Well, July is Arachnoiditis Awareness month and I'm going to by a bit hypocritical. I have Adhesive Arachnoiditis and I am quite sure most people are not aware of it, or how you can get it. Insurance companies are pushing these because they're cheaper than surgery and hospitals are doing a booming business doing hundreds a day and it only take a millimeter off with that needle and your life as you know it is over. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. If you ever get epidural steroid injections, you should become aware of it and research it. If you are suffering from unending pain after having said injections, getting a spinal fusion, or any other trauma to your spine, you should get aware of it. As we argue about the Iranian religious dictatorship which for 47 years has chanted “death to America” and sought to get nuclear weapons and missiles to reach the United States we ought to remember President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s warning on September 11, 1941 “When you see a rattlesnake poised to strike, you do not wait until he has struck before you crush him." Your Excellency, Bishop Strickland, While I have had the greatest respect for your steadfast defense of traditional Catholic positions and your commitment to the Deposit of Faith, I find your recent statement regarding the State of Israel and the removal of Mrs. Carrie Prejean Boller to be a troubling departure from both Magisterial teaching and moral clarity. To claim that the Church has no stance on the legitimacy of the State of Israel ignores decades of formal development. In the Fundamental Agreement between the Holy See and the State of Israel (1993), the Church formally recognized the sovereign State of Israel. Specifically, Article 1, §2 affirms "the right of the State to carry out its functions, such as promoting and protecting the welfare and the safety of the people." By questioning the legitimacy of the Jewish state, one is not merely expressing a "political opinion," but is distancing themselves from the formal diplomatic and moral recognition established by the Holy See. Furthermore, we must address the clear link between anti-Zionism and antisemitism. Pope Francis stated unequivocally in 2015: "To attack Jews is antisemitism, but an outright attack on the State of Israel is also antisemitism." Denying a people their right to self-determination in their ancestral homeland—especially after the "irrevocable covenant" affirmed in Nostra Aetate—is a theological and moral error. Regarding the current war, Catholic moral theology on the Right to Self-Defense is not optional. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (2265) teaches that legitimate defense is a "grave duty" for those responsible for the lives of others. This conflict was forced upon Israel by the unspeakable, inhuman atrocities of October 7th. To speak of "suffering in Gaza" without identifying the source of that suffering is a failure of truth. In Catholic teaching, the moral weight of civilian deaths lies with those who use "human shields." When an enemy intentionally embeds its military operations within schools, hospitals, and homes, the blood of those civilians is on the hands of the terrorists who use them as pawns, not the nation fulfilling its duty to protect its citizens from annihilation. Israel has gone further than any nation in history to avoid civilian casualties. This violence would have ended months ago if the hostages—including women and children—were returned. Their continued captivity, and the fact that segments of the population supported the October 7th massacres, cannot be ignored. True courage is found in standing with our "elder brothers in faith" against the modern face of an ancient hatred. We pray for peace, but peace must be rooted in truth and the right of the Jewish people to live in safety in their own land. Statement regarding Mrs. Carrie Prejean Boller   In recent days, I have become aware of the removal of Mrs. Carrie Prejean Boller from the Presidential Religious Liberty Commission, along with the public accusations that have followed. After reviewing her account and the circumstances surrounding this matter, I believe it is necessary to speak plainly.   Ms. Boller has been treated unjustly.   A Catholic woman, speaking from a well-formed conscience and in fidelity to the teachings of the Church, has been publicly criticized and removed – yet no clear, substantiated reason has been provided. Such a lack of transparency does not serve justice. It damages reputations and undermines trust.   More troubling still is the apparent cause: that she raised legitimate questions about Zionism and defended the simple truth that Catholics are not bound to any political ideology.   Let me be clear.   The Catholic Church does not teach that the modern State of Israel holds a divine mandate that must be supported by all believers. Nor does the Church teach that opposition to political Zionism is inherently antisemitic. These are not doctrines of the Catholic faith.   At the same time, the Church unequivocally rejects all hatred toward the Jewish people. Every human person is to be loved, defended, and treated with dignity. But this truth must not be distorted. To question the policies or actions of a modern nation – any nation – is not hatred. It is a moral responsibility when innocent life is at stake.   We are witnessing great suffering in the Holy Land. Innocent men, women, and children – especially in Gaza – have endured immense devastation. To speak on behalf of human life, wherever it is threatened, is not political extremism. It is fidelity to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.   Mrs. Boller did what many are now afraid to do: she spoke.   She spoke for Catholics who are increasingly pressured to conform to political narratives that do not reflect the fullness of our faith. She spoke to ensure that antisemitism is not wrongly conflated with legitimate moral concern. She spoke for the dignity of all human life – Jew and Palestinian alike.   For this, she has been mischaracterized.   It is especially disheartening when such treatment appears to come, in part, from those within the Church who should be the first to defend the faithful when they speak truthfully and in good conscience. Shepherds are called to protect, not to abandon; to clarify, not to confuse; to stand with the sheep, especially when they are under attack.   Silence in the face of injustice is not prudence. It is a failure of charity and truth. Therefore, I express my support for Mrs. Carrie Prejean Boller.   I affirm her right, as a Catholic and as an American, to speak clearly about matters of faith, morality, and public life without being unjustly labeled or removed without explanation. I also call for greater clarity and fairness from those responsible for her removal, so that truth – not speculation – may prevail.   This moment calls for courage.   Not political courage, but Christian courage – the kind that stands firmly in truth while remaining rooted in charity. We must reject hatred in all its forms, but we must also reject the misuse of that charge to silence those who speak in defense of life and moral truth.   Let us pray for peace in the Holy Land – for Jews, for Palestinians, and for all who suffer. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the government should not be in the business of killing its own citizens. Once that Rubicon is crossed, it comes down to who is in charge and what they deem worthy of death. Today, it's capital murder, tomorrow it may be unspecified "crimes against the state" or "incitement of civil unrest". Before you suggest hyperbole, at least 70 counties retain the death penalty for "treason". What does that mean? tell me who's in charge and I'll tell you what it means. The first and most important job of any government is to protect its citizens. All of its citizens. Protect doesn't mean they cannot be punished. I want to celebrate the bravery of thousands of people who are engaging in protest against the oppressive regime in Iran. Es macht mich traurig zu sehen, was mit Deutschland geschehen ist. Viele Jahre lang war es meine zweite Heimat. Besonders gern erinnere ich mich an Geißen, da ich dort oft zum Einkaufen in den größeren Armeeladen fuhr. Ich war in den 80er Jahren vier Jahre lang in Kirch-Göns stationiert. Ich habe immer bewundert, wie geeint die Deutschen in ihrer Geschichte und ihren Bräuchen waren, während wir in den USA so viele verschiedene Kulturen haben, die sich stark voneinander unterscheiden die miteinander verschmolzen sind, auch die Deutschen, so sehr, dass es schwerfällt, das Original noch zu erkennen. Als die neuen Einwanderer nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg nach Amerika kamen, integrierten sie sich und wurden Amerikaner. Sie stärkten uns, indem sie ihr einzigartiges Erbe mitbrachten und es mit unserem eigenen verbanden. Ein Nachteil dabei ist der Verlust der Schönheit jeder ursprünglichen Kultur, aber wir wissen, dass wir in ein Flugzeug steigen und unsere Vorfahren besuchen und ihre Kulturen wiederentdecken können. Leider Angesichts der muslimischen Expansion und der Verbreitung ihrer Grausamkeiten ist das nicht mehr möglich. Zumindest nicht gefahrlos. Ich frage mich, wie so viele intelligente Menschen nicht sehen können, was ihre Augen ihnen sagen, und sich weigern, zuzugeben, dass sie kulturellen Selbstmord begehen. Diese Bilder von Geißen und hundert anderen Orten in Deutschland unterscheidet sich nicht von den Deutschen in Großbritannien oder, leider, nun auch nicht mehr in Teilen der Vereinigten Staaten. Anders als Europa werden wir nicht kampflos aufgeben. Wir stoppen die Invasion der Barbaren und sie in ihre rückständigen Hütten zurückzuschicken, die sie sich selbst gebaut haben. Wir haben sie aufgenommen, weil ihre Heimatländer gefährlich waren. Doch nun, da sie ankommen, machen sie unser Land gefährlich. Wenn sie Sie sind stark genug, uns in unserem eigenen Land zu bekämpfen, sie sind stark genug, sich jeder Gefahr entgegenzustellen, die sie angeblich hierher geführt hat.
