Ahead of the Spring Budget next week, I have written to the Chancellor to urge him to increase investment in eye health care. The Govt must take urgent action to tackle the eye health emergency. More funding in the NHS for eye health will reduce the backlogs, prevent avoidable sight loss, and ensure the delivery of good quality eye health care that everyone can access, when and where they need it.

Annual economic cost of sight loss:£38 billion!!!!! But up to 50% of sight loss is avoidable. Investment in primary eyecare will improve access, support for self-care, earlier identification and treatment. Working in partnership with #ophthalmology #optometry

@CollegeOptomUK We also get a number of patients who have been certified without a recent sight test who have been registered sight impaired but then when they get an updated pair of glasses they are better than the driving standard...

@LocDurham EOI also open to @LocNtw, @TeesLoc @northcumbrialoc workforce. If your an optometrist mainly work in the #NENC and haven’t done them fill in the EOI. #CLOs can also fill it in and if enough numbers LOCs will consider alternative future funding for MECS
