I made a visual demonstration that the Artemis 2 crew, even during approach, can already see part of the far side of the Moon, which is inaccessible to us from Earth due to the Moon's synchronous rotation. On the left are photographs taken from the Orion spacecraft; on the right is my telescope shot of the full Moon. For added convenience, I've marked major surface features at the bottom. In fact, from Earth, we can occasionally see a few percent more of the surface and glimpse the far side due to the Moon's libration (wobble). But in this comparison, we clearly see more of the far side's surface than is visible to us due to libration.
