I'll be honest...for years I never really used Twitter and had no plans to When Elon bought it I figured I'd log back in and see what he does with it Fast forward to today and I now have a strong conviction that if we don't start encouraging more people to regularly use 𝕏 to get informed without a middle man spinning a narrative or leaving things out completely (or flat out lying), we're in trouble I just keep thinking about all of the videos and first hand accounts of what's really happening that will never ever make it to the legacy media or the nightly news where so much of the older population still gets their "news" and has their worldviews shaped As someone who values the truth, I'm disgusted by the blatant lying and acting that's taking place and then it's even worse seeing how many people are still just eating it all up and buying in without questioning anything 𝕏 needs its own cable TV network/show to disseminate the truths on 𝕏 that don't make it into the mainstream public conversation

Very cool story Dillon! Had a very similar path from college to EJ (no office) before deciding to take a leap with my mom’s office cleaning company (mom, brother and I were its only employees when we joined). Took a lot of income off the table upfront going from finance to janitorial work, but felt in my gut it was the right move. 20 years later my Mom had been retired and we sold the company with over 175 employees. Agree wholeheartedly- Chase the dream! Do the thing!

A story I haven't shared. Out of college I landed an awesome job with Edward Jones as a financial advisor - after training I got to inherit a book of business with my own BOA (branch office administrator). After a few years I felt a strong call to do something else, even though all of my schooling (finance, economics) was aimed to land me exactly where I was. Only ~12% of applicants actually make it into an office managing money, so when I told my family + friends I was going to walk away to work at a gym, not a single person in my life at the time supported that decision and a few people really tried to get me to change my mind and stay A few weeks after leaving EJ, I met my wife at the gym and another few years later and the circumstances aligned to allow me to start YouTube. Everyone in my life loved me and cared about me and did what they thought was best, but no one knew my vision for my life like I did. Listen for feedback but never let anyone else's suggestions or opinions decide your fate for you

The happiest people I know all made a choice that looked unreasonable at some point. Left a great job. Turned down a raise. Moved somewhere without a plan. Sometimes the choices that look bad lead to lives that feel great.

This is a perfect example of why Tesla isn't scaling Robotaxi yet. There are various reasons but we have heard that one of them is that the pickup and dropoff logic needs to be refined. In this instance, @scotsrule08 spent an extra ~15 minutes in the car circling the destination because the car couldn't decide where to let them out It's not that Unsupervised isn't safe, it's just not refined to the point that it's ready for scale and ready to give non-Tesla superfans a consistently smooth and efficient experience Also, if you're not following Spencer I would encourage you to do so. He has been breaking news, reporting from the ground and unlike some others is happy to report objectively and share the "not so great" things as well

@DillonLoomis @scotsrule08 Waymo didnt wait to refine pick up and drop off locations. They do it in red zones, across the street so the person has to jaywalk across 4 busy lanes, 2 blocks away.... you name it

@ElectricTo11 @scotsrule08 really wish they would talk about this more on an earnings call...like why this is the case. same with navigation...why did those regressions show up? reasoning added too soon?

As far as driving goes, FSD is way safer then 99.9% of human drives. Once it's time for the car to park in a busy parking lot or pull up in your friends driveway it turns into a sporadic child driver.... Hopefully they can get it fixed soon, but I think this has been THE issue for quite some time.

@tpgoebel @scotsrule08 and the parking behavior is still quite poor too often. seems like we have to pin our hopes to v15 for a big improvement there

@DillonLoomis @scotsrule08 Agreed. I think Tesla has underestimated / ignored the pickup/dropoff problem for too long, focusing on the driving aspect. Learning what makes a safe spot is probably equally hard has learning certain other maneuvers that took years to perfection... sigh

@DillonLoomis @scotsrule08 An Uber will just stop in the street, put their hazards on, and let the riders out. This is the only option in downtown type areas. Tesla knows this and could easily mimic it. This type of thing is just an excuse to slow deployment so Elon can merge with 50% control.

im still having a hard time seeing how tesla will allow so much user input into the model without introducing more risk and a bigger, smarter model. something tells me the feature will be quite limited for some time. hope im wrong. honestly id be happy with simple logic...get close to the pin, park correctly in lines (not handicap) and have options to park away from cars or close to the entrance, back in etc

I would say that FSD 'Parking' and robotaxi pickup/drop off are tied together. They require similar "skills" to be learned. Ashok has said that tesla is working on grok integration for things like "park in the space after the white car"....and Im thi king that kind of experience is needed to really scale automated robotaxi. Pulling over in a safe location "as close to the drop off pin as possible" is a prerequisite though.

@DillonLoomis @scotsrule08 Tesla is so close, but we have to remember how incredibly distant this goal seemed when we all first heard about it. It takes incredible engineering to pull this off. We need to keep letting them cook until it's ready.

@DillonLoomis Thank you for the share Dillon. I would agree this is likely one of the reasons they haven’t scaled widely. Elon in the last earnings call even mentioned this was one of the things they were working on.

yeah. i think he is directionally correct about timelines and i think more people need to adjust expectations down but i said the same thing on yt last night...no one outside of tesla knows what tesla actually has in terms of a prototype today. we are completely in the dark when it comes to the last few months of progress

🚨 Breaking NEWS! @chamath just said on CNBC He thinks $SPCX would have to pay a 50% Premium to acquire $TSLA. This IMO is again them leaking out and normalizing the inevitable merger!
