You know, Australia's housing crisis is a supply AND a demand issue. To resolve it, policies are required to address both. Resolving on the demand side, though, is THE quickest way to get us back to equilibrium. To get us back to some sense of improved affordability.
And that, of course, is addressed fairly and quickly by reducing migration.
It is a simple equation, yet the main parties and powers don't want to acknowledge the elephant in the room. Or worse, they disingenuously turn it into a race issue. "Don't blame migrants!"
Well, I think the majority of people see through this gaslighting. And now that there is an economic crisis upon us, the patience and niceties of the people are going to ware very thin indeed.
Unemployment is about to rise. Rents will accelerate from the current 6%pa.
So, if the powers that be, continue on with making the people feel guilty about lowering our migration rate, then they will lose their power. It is a certainty, now.

We're over 90% reliant on imported fuels of which over half routed through the Strait. Diesel shortages are already hitting NSW servos, with prices spiking.
Not the best time for us to be sitting on the side lines.

Attacks on fuel tankers and energy infrastructure in the Middle East are leading directly to higher fuel prices for Kiwis. That’s why we have joined the United Kingdom and other countries in condemning Iran’s attacks in the Gulf. Iran has forced the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz to ships carrying fuel and other critical goods to places like New Zealand. New Zealand has a longstanding record of working with like-minded partners to ensure open supply lines for global trade. Obviously, any future decision for New Zealand to support multilateral efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz would need to be considered by Cabinet.

Trump masterfully made Strait of Hormuz "somebody else's problem". US oil is at $100, while Asia oil (dependent on Hormuz) is at $150.

The oil market has fragmented: Oil is now trading for $150/bbl in Asia (except the occasional sanctioned Iranian tanker) where demand destruction has started. China and India most pressured. Meanwhile it is still $100 in the US
