If the UK government ever went out of its way to prevent someone like Valentina Gomez crossing the Channel, or acted to detain her on arrival, it would effectively become a live case study.
It would demonstrate something many people already suspect: that the state does have the capability to stop illegal crossings when it chooses to prioritise it.

You should want districts/constituencies/ridings to be as blobby as possible.

Things are really out of balance when someone earning £10k and someone earning £140k take home the same net amount.

Why should they be able to force negotiations, entrenching their position as employees over that of people who might want to work for the employer on the terms that the employer is offering? Why do we forbid the employer hiring people who might accept their terms or pay? Why do we force the employer to keep on staff who have refused new offered terms of work, and who walk out over those terms? Why do we entrench incumbents and kneecap efficiency in the process?
