@sunnybobf @D162Michele Actually, they can earn on average about 7-8k a month in a 1st-tier city IF they don't do overtime, which is a little over USD 1000 per month. Which is definitely more than the $8 a day you quoted. Please feel free to check with whatever AI tool you use.

12 years ago, this passport stamp changed the direction of my life. My wife brought me back with her to China, and somehow convinced me that this was where our future would begin. At the time, I had no idea that this place would become home, or that it would lead to a family, a business, lifelong friendships, endless lessons, countless adventures, and many new chapters. People sometimes ask me if I will ever move back to Canada. My answer is simple: China is home.

@gbaromman @XueJia24682 Actually there is no law explicitly outlawing personal VPN use. There is only an MIIT regulation—never approved by the legislature—requiring providers to obtain a license. Even spokespeople from the gov use VPN.Feel free to quote the law where it says personal VPN use is illegal.

@americanmcgee In the areas I care about, China's gotten worse over the past 15 years since I lived there (Beijing and Guilin fwiw). Freedom of speech, of thought, of association, of debate, of diversity - all the things that make life worth living. HK especially sad, everyone interesting fled.

Having lived in China 20+ years and watched them gain competence and then utter domination over so many aspects of tech, design, entertainment, finance, etc - and then look at how poorly they manage external perceptions (call it PR or propaganda or whatever)... And you realize they aren't even trying to convince the world outside of how great things are here. Meanwhile the US dedicates 1.3 BILLION USD to convincing people how terrible China is? All I know is it's going to be a very rude awakening for a lot of people when the curtains finally open.

This is genuinely incredible and says SO SO MUCH about the perception of China in the West. This is the #1 news show in France, and the host - David Pujadas - asks the pundits around the table (a sample of the top media figures in France) if they can name 3 living Chinese people. That's it: they just need to say the names of 3 living Chinese people, anyone. This should be extremely easy. Yet not of a single one of them can name a single Chinese beyond Xi Jinping. They do not know a single living Chinese person beyond the president. That's the level of ignorance of China we're dealing with in the West today, in 2026. This is the source for the video: tf1info.fr/replay-lci/vid… Aired live yesterday 28th of May 2026.

@RnaudBertrand Isn't it because every other Chinese person has to do what Xi Jinping wants? So in a sense the other people don't really matter, because they don't have any independent power or agency of their own?

@Unveiled_ChinaX @PaulH39468020 So an individual Chinese person is not allowed to live the lifestyle of an American simply because we are Chinese? Or maybe you consider Chinese subhuman and thus we shouldnt be allowed to have a similar carbon footprint to the average American?

@PaulH39468020 When it comes to total coal burn & emissions, no one looks at per capita. The only reason China’s per capita is lower is because it’s a poorer country than the US.

China is single-handedly burning more coal than the rest of the entire planet combined, exposing the deep hypocrisy behind Beijing's global climate commitments. According to official data from the International Energy Agency (IEA), global coal consumption reached a record high of 8,845 million tonnes. China alone consumed a staggering 4,953 million tonnes, meaning a single country is responsible for 56% of the world's total coal burn. When combined with India, these two nations drive a massive 71% of global coal consumption, completely undermining Western carbon-reduction efforts. This relentless reliance on fossil fuels is fueled by China's carbon-heavy industrial base, massive steel and chemical production, and domestic electricity demand growing at over 7% annually. While Beijing aggressively promotes itself as a green energy champion by leading the world in solar and wind installations, this clean energy is a fragile veneer. Because its renewable grid is highly unstable and intermittent, China continuously defaults to coal as its primary, heavy-duty backup to maintain economic growth. Despite empty promises to curb dependencies, China's dual strategy proves that energy security and industrial dominance will always override actual environmental responsibility. #UnveiledChina #IEAData #CoalConsumption #EnergyCrisis #ChinaIndustry #GreenEnergyParadox #CarbonEmissions

And yes, that is why #dwarfs — short-statured people in #China — under the #CCP are treated only as #comedians. Because the CCP has kept them only for #comedy work, to #entertain people, and they are not given proper opportunities for #education or jobs. When they are promoting #disability #inclusion so much, saying that disabled people can easily get jobs and work in different fields, then why is it not the same for dwarfs? Is it because dwarf people do not look “good” enough? You think your company image will look bad because of them. So the CCP should stop this #hypocrisy and this fake show of #equality.

More than twenty years ago, Mr. Ronald Sakolsky, an American teacher in China, donated $5,000 to support Ms. Yin Yuzhen and her husband’s efforts to turn the desert green. Today, the saplings planted with that donation have grown into a forest of over 50,000 trees. This story is a vivid example of people-to-people exchanges between China and the U.S. We are confident that the two peoples will keep adding new chapters of friendship and injecting fresh vitality into bilateral ties.

Jensen Huang says it has “largely conceded” China’s AI chip market to Huawei Nvidia was not rejected because China “hates” Nvidia. It was pushed out because Washington turned chips into a leash. China learned the lesson very clearly: You cannot build AI sovereignty on hardware that your geopolitical rival can revoke with one export-control memo. Jensen Huang can be friendly. Nvidia can be excellent. Chinese demand can be huge. None of that changes the strategic reality. If the neck of China’s AI industry depends on an American-controlled chip supply, then it is not an industry. It is a hostage. So China did what any serious civilization-state would do: It built alternatives. It endured the pain. It let Huawei grow into the space Washington forced open. Now Nvidia says it has “largely conceded” China’s AI chip market to Huawei. That is not China closing a door. That is America sawing off the bridge, then acting surprised when China built its own road.

WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU PICTURE IN CHINA? haha CHINA DOES NOT HAVE 1.4B people in cities or even with electricity. Most people in China are quite poor. They move to cities for work, to send money to family, but most of them are very poor. Communist countries are not prosperous. Beijing is crumbling.

China has been under a surveillance state for decades- 600M surveillance cameras, they can identify citizens w facial recognition w a 98.5% accuracy and they record every move by their citizens Yet China only has 450 data centers What data is the US gathering that would justify the US to need 5,000 data centers - 15x what China has, with only a quarter of the population?
