"Bob told him: 'If your problem is alcohol, AA can’t help you.' The man was confused. 'Then what IS my problem?' 'Your problem is alcoholism — a disease of perception.' It doesn’t just get you drunk. It instantly warps how you see the world. You feel bigger. Others feel smaller. It’s all fantasy. Then the craving takes over. This hit hard. #Sobriety #Recovery"

This is 392lbs to 220lbs. How did I do it? Quit booze after a 25 year battle with it and started boxing. Yeah, I'm damn proud of myself. #ODAAT

Tonight I picked up my 2-month chips at both MA and AA. 60 days ago I wasn’t just struggling with weed — I was deep in clonazepam, Dilaudid, and other opioids and benzodiazepines. I couldn’t see a version of life where I wasn’t using something to get through the day. If you told me back then that I’d be driving to Toronto for meetings because I wanted to be there, I wouldn’t have believed you. I didn’t think sobriety was something I could actually do, let alone live with. But here I am. And life is slowly starting to come back in ways I didn’t expect. I’m laughing again, golfing again, showing up for my family, and actually feeling present for it instead of numbing everything out. It’s not perfect, and some days are still uncomfortable as hell, but it’s real. Recovery has given me something I honestly didn’t think I’d ever get back! hope and a future that doesn’t revolve around using. I’m grateful for the people who’ve supported me through this, and for the fact I get to start over one day at a time. 2 months down. Tomorrow I wake up and do it again. One day at a time. ❤️
