Unplug Nuclear Power
@Unplugnukes

@ChrisMartzWX So wrong. Here in Ohio, where our grid is mainly coal and nukes, we are regularly asked to turn off our AC during peak summer usage. In TX, where they now have tons of rooftop solar, they actually have SURPLUS electricity during high heat days. You’re spreading disinformation.

@cafreiman The many billions of dollars the CPUC has already dumped on ratepayers to keep Diablo open would be MUCH better spent supporting more wind, solar, and storage. The CPUC has shown it’s willing to give PG&E any rate increase it wants for Diablo. This is corription as energy policy.

@gettingfake @DiabloCanyonCA What all you nukesters have to do is explain to me how you can routinely put radiation into the environment, which ALL nuke plants (including Diablo!) do, WITHOUT causing more cancer.
English

@Unplugnukes @DiabloCanyonCA You are liars and I hope you all suffer for it
English

@lfppersonal @DiabloCanyonCA No Nukes! No Carbon! No Kidding! Wind, solar and storage are all we need.
English

@Unplugnukes @DiabloCanyonCA Not to mention, again, but fossil fuels are a thousand times worse! Your choice is between nuclear and fossil fuels, and your dumbass is choosing fossil fuels!
English

@Unplugnukes @DiabloCanyonCA Citation needed, because this just isn't true.
English

@Unplugnukes @DiabloCanyonCA ... There aren't hundreds of thousands of workers in the nuclear power sector. It gets most of the data from ionizing radiation in healthcare, stuff like X rays.
Nuclear plant workers tend to have better radiation mitigation anyway, due to pretty strict regulations
English

@lfppersonal @DiabloCanyonCA You are ignorant. Nukes routinely release radiation into the environment. The majority leak radioactive tritium every day.
English

@Unplugnukes @DiabloCanyonCA "low doses" don't endanger people nearby because (shocker) ionizing radiation has a really hard time making it through the fuck tons of shielding a reactor has!
English

@MikeysTimeout @DiabloCanyonCA No, you are if you think radiation is harmless. Do you?
English

@Unplugnukes @DiabloCanyonCA Holy fuck you are stupid.
English

@lfppersonal @DiabloCanyonCA This was a study that used measured doses from hundreds of thousands of nuke plant workers from the US, UK, and France. Low doses killed them. The same low doses that people who live near nuke plants get year after year.
English

@lfppersonal @DiabloCanyonCA It’s absolutely true. The most comprehensive study ever, INWORKS, used actual measured doses, not estimates like your crap studies. It shows very low radiation doses cause high cancer rates. Ask yourself, how can you irradiate people W/O causing cancer?

Coal power plants emit more radiation than nuclear ones, these dim wits don't care about the environment, they hate you.

@DiabloCanyonCA Clean? Our descendants will be paying for that power for the next million years with higher cancer rates and genetic diseases. Dirty.
English

Only an agency dedicated to promoting nuclear no matter what could call a nuke plant that’s being bombed almost daily “normal.”

FINALLY!!! Solar passes nuclear in supplying the world’s energy. This potential has always been there. If we hadn’t wasted decades and trillions on nukes, we would already be 100% clean energy. dw.com/en/solar-is-wi…

The shutdowns mount. 16% of the US nuclear fleet is now at 0% power. Most are for scheduled maintainence (although they often go beyond schedules), but some, like Palo Verde 2 are shut down because of leaks or accidents. nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc…
