What signatures differentiate scientific prizewinners from similarly productive peers? This new paper by @UzziLeadership’s team explores differences in the social and bibliographic networks of matched prize-winning and non prize-winning scholars. They find prize winners produce more interdisciplinary work; build lower-overlap teams whose collaborators bring new topics; and have shorter lived collaborations. Crucially, these patterns begin well before the prize, peak around the award, and remain visible after, suggesting prizes reflect long-term differences rather than short-term boosts. pnas.org/doi/full/10.10…
