Let me know when you find the girl. She seems committed to her studies. Riding a bicycle in the rain! Bless her! Let me know when u find her. Im ready to pay her school fees in boarding until she is done with her studies!
Gideon Nova Kwikiriza@KwikirizaNova

I just talked to @bakigatv who actually recorded the video and he’s promised to look out for the girl and share the details. From a second thought, based on your comments, the best solution is to support her to the boarding section. I will share the details as I receive them and we shall see how we can help the girl🙏

Today, 17th April 2026, the female Anti-EACOP activists and others were sentenced to 11 months imprisonment at Buganda Road Magistrate’s Court after already spending 9 months on remand. The activists were convicted on 10th April 2026 for the offence of common nuisance simply for peacefully delivering a petition to Stanbic Bank on 1st August 2025, urging the bank to stop financing the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project. This ruling clearly demonstrates how TotalEnergies and the Government of Uganda are weaponising the courts to intimidate environmental defenders and violate their constitutional rights to freedom of expression, assembly and peaceful petition as they carry out their duty to protect communities, livelihoods, water sources and the climate. Liberty Pro Bono Initiative (LPI) and the defense team strongly condemn this unjust sentencing, has prepared all necessary documents, and will file an immediate appeal the decision . We demand the immediate release of the activists pending appeal and an end to the criminalisation of peaceful environmental advocacy. #FreeTheEACOPActivists #StopEACOP #ClimateJusticeUG

@TotalEnergies using courts of law to silence the voices of the Anti-EACOP activists for standing against your deadly project violates the Ugandan law and international law. But we shall remain strong and not intimated by your ruthless actions on us. #StopEACOP

Kudos to these senior lawyers who never gave since day one on 1st August 2025 when these heroic environmental defenders were remanded to Luzira. We shall overcome this kind of impunity brought by @TotalEnergies on the activists fighting for our planet. #StopEACOP

Today, April 17,2026 at the High Court in Hoima, the interim application for the Kapaapi affected communities came up for hearing in their case against TotalEnergies E&P Uganda B.V., the Hoima Resident District Commissioner, and the Government of Uganda. The interim injunction was filed to urgently halt further evictions, stop any interference with the community’s quiet possession and occupation of their land, and ensure their protection while the main case is pending before court. TotalEnergies has filed its written response. We shall file our reply, and the ruling is scheduled for 4 May 2026. This case was officially filed on 13 April 2026 by residents of Kapaapi Parish in Kigorobya Sub-county (Hoima District), represented by LPI and HEAPI, seeking justice for grave human rights violations arising from violent forced evictions. Between 10, 25 February 2023, over 1,000 families were forcibly evicted by armed UPDF soldiers and other actors despite an existing court order. The community reports severe abuses, including destruction of homes and property, sexual violence against women and girls, brutal assaults on pregnant women leading to miscarriages, and the displacement of families who have now lived in trauma and uncertainty for nearly two years. Despite a government directive in October 2025 calling for resettlement, intimidation and violence have persisted. In January 2026, armed soldiers returned to demolish shelters, followed by ultimatums in February threatening renewed evictions. The case also seeks full and fair compensation, transparency in land acquisition processes, and accountability for violations of fundamental rights including the rights to life, dignity, property, security, and freedom from torture and sexual violence. This is a critical moment for justice, accountability, and the protection of human rights in Uganda. The continued intimidation of affected communities must end. #JusticeForKapaapi #StopEACOP #HumanRights #ClimateJustice

Tomorrow, 17 April 2026, the anti-EACOP female activists and their co-accused will appear before Buganda Road Magistrate’s Court for sentencing after enduring 260 days on remand. On 10 April 2026, the eight environmental defenders were convicted of “common nuisance” following their peaceful action on 1 August 2025, when they delivered a petition to Stanbic Bank Uganda urging it to withdraw financing from the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). Their case highlights the continued criminalisation of individuals, especially women environmental defenders who are lawfully exercising their constitutional rights to freedom of expression, assembly, and peaceful petition. These activists stood up to protect communities, livelihoods, water sources, and our shared climate. As Liberty Pro Bono Initiative (LPI), together with the defence team, we have prepared all necessary legal documents and will file an immediate appeal following sentencing, as we strongly disagree with the ruling. We reiterate our call for the immediate release of the activists and an end to the persecution of environmental defenders. Advocacy is not a crime. Protecting the environment is not a crime. #StopEACOP #ClimateJustice

Families were brutally and illegally evicted from their homes without any court order or due process, leaving them homeless overnight. Watch the videos and read the full press statement from the lawyers fighting for their rights. We demand immediate justice, restoration of their property, compensation, and accountability for those responsible. No family should be thrown out of their home in this unlawful manner. Share widely to amplify their cry for justice. #JusticeForEvictedFamilies #StopIllegalEvictions #Uganda
